Love mine! 4gen will have too much tech crap I’m sure will have issues plus I know it will be way overpriced! Keeping mine for the long haul.

Dude, please do some research. Tacoma’s were designed in North America. I know first gen was designed by dude in California. 3rd gen by mike sweets, not sure who designed 2nd gen.

I love mine. Just hoping my son doesn’t convince me to give it to him now that he’s learning how to drive

Same boat. Daughter just got her permit and wants my truck. Think I’m both proud and scared at the same time.

Exactly how I feel. He even helped me wash it the other. When he did that I knew I was in trouble..

I like it, but I think I like my 2nd Gen better. Its funny because when I bought my 2-Gen in 2005 (first year of 2-Gen), I got the same impression that I am getting now with the 3rd gen: It's not the same quality. It does not "feel Toyota". It's all new, seats won't last! plastic bed! no way, carpets are not loop-pile like in a true japanese-made Tacoma.... But that truck was flawless, shiny and elegant and unbreakable for 17 years/173,000 miles. When I got this new 3rd gen, I thought it was too plasticky, the plastic engine cover, soft and weak, the wheel well liners, soft as mica plastic, shutting the doors feel..."Fordish"? (don't shut with a "solid "creack" sound, but with a "thump", like an Explorer), etc... But still, I really like it, and hope its just an impression based on a new experience. I mean, designed by Americans in California and built in Mexico...It should be allright... I am hoping to keep this truck for the rest of the time I have in this world. Based on family history, that would be 30 years LOL!

I have driven both multiple times. I am not going to get into an argument with you and I hate to break the news to you, but the Tacoma is not 100% American. As you are fully aware this discussion on Hilux vs Tacoma has been repeatedly discussed. Some parts are / could be shared but due to North American safety standards and US design many parts are different. Sit back answer the question and don't immediately lop my head off.

Answer this: Why on earth would Toyota put a heavy gas tank on the left side? Once you are able to answer this you will understand.

The 2nd-Gen was designed by truck manufacturer Hino (owned by Toyota) in Japan. They slammed it out of the ballpark with that design.

Okay, I have never seen that kind of recovery point. What is it?

    P.S. I like my 3rd GEN.

Sure some parts could be shared, that’s how Toyota saves money. Other manufacturers do the same thing.

But Tacoma is 100% American. It was made for North American consumers in North America.

Why did Toyota put gas tank on left? I don’t know. Toyota does a lot of strange things that nobody knows answers too.

Doing a lot of driving in mountain roads with steep inclines/declines with rams and f250s doing 95mph on my ass I found that using ECT button + S4/S5 prevented unnecessary down shifts and up shifts and provided more response when needed. If you utilize the features of the truck it can work fine

I like mine, had a 1st gen and it was a great truck other than it rode hard and was loud. First is probably better off road, but I spend little time off road so 3rd gen is the dogs balls.
