I love my 3rd gen. I upgraded from a 2 door jeep Wrangler. My truck has more space, more power, a better ride, better milage, and still has lots of accessories and after market parts.

I suspect you need to get out more or hang out with a better class of people.

    Dog's Bollocks
In UK slang terms the "dog's bollocks" means the best. It comes from the habit of male dog's licking their testicles (bollocks) and that they must taste good as they spend so much time in this activity.

I've owned 8 Toyota trucks over the years. I buy Toyota because they make a lot of sense financially. The last three have cost me less than $3000 to drive for 4 years. The 3rd gen trucks are not fun to drive stock from the factory. Getting my truck tuned made all of the difference in the world. It is now a great truck and a joy to drive. I would recommend every 3rd gen owner to get their truck tuned. It is a small cost for large improvement in driving pleasure. And it makes them must faster from a stop.

I love mine. We have a 2022 4Runner TRD Sport, a bunch of motorcycles and my toy car. By far I prefer the Taco.

I sold my 3rd gen after 4 years.

I’m glad I did because I now have something that I enjoy a lot more.

I bought a new '15 gen2 Sport. In December, kinda' giving my son a break, I sold the '15 to him for a steal, and bought a '22 gen3 Sport. Basically the exact same truck/options. There was about a $10k difference in price when I purchased. The bottom line for me is the '15 was a much better value. I do like some of the driver assist features in the gen3, but if I hadn't sold the gen2 to help my kid out, I'd be disappointed in what I got for $10k more in the gen3.

Except for the slow-ass motor, too few gears, rusty frame, and fruity looking design, I agree.

You’re always going to hear 100 negative opinions or bad outcomes on the internet for every positive one. That goes for everything under the sun. People bitch A LOT more than they praise, especially online. People don’t post about how their car didn’t blow a head gasket, they post when it does. People don’t post when their test results from the doctor come back and everything is fine, they post when something is wrong. You don’t read stories about the 500,000 people who didn’t get in an accident on whatever freeway that day, you hear about the one accident that did happen. If this forum was an actual insight into how many 3rd gen owners love their trucks, their resale value would plummet. But in the real world, people love these trucks and the demand and value that exceeds pretty much every other vehicle out there proves it.

On a side note, if you think the 3rd gen Tacoma is slow, you never drove a Toyota with a 22R (or shit, even a 3.4) and it shows. People say the gas mileage has’t improved much in this class of Toyota trucks in decades, but they fail to realize these newer V6s are pushing trucks that weigh over 1000 lbs. more, while still being significantly faster, and using the same or less fuel to do it. I do wish that Toyota would make compact trucks again, with modern engines with 300ish HP and they would be that much faster and get that much better MPGs, but they don’t for whatever reasons. I’ve owned over a dozen Toyota trucks in my life (and currently still own 3 - a built ‘97 4Runner and a 2017 4Runner), and my 3rd gen is easily my favorite of all.

Love this truck. Yes it has some things I wish Toyota did better but overall I am very happy with my decision to buy this thing. Its comfortable for me, has plenty of power for me, the ride is great, its pretty darn quiet and has any creature comfort I could ask for and more. It gets decent fuel economy for what it is in my eyes but I am probably a little skewed as I came from a 2002 F350 CCLB with a 7.3 Powerstroke in it. The only thing I miss is the torque of that engine and it towing ability.
