Yep. Told a friend that it will be the first and hopefully last new truck I buy in a very long time.

Thought about that a lot on my drive home today with my lumber rack ratchet strapped down.

Once the lumber rack gets modified a bit and get a camper shell on it, it’s going to be an awesome work / play truck. Couldn’t be happier with this new rig and the shape it’s taking.

I'm confused by all the complaints that say the truck is slow as shit. By what metric?

Either everyone is trading in their hellcat for a Tacoma, or they're too young to remember when most cars struggled to peg the top of the speedo at 85 mph. Heck, it wasn't too long ago that "slow as shit" meant that your chevy citation had to stay in the trucker's lane when going over a mountain pass, slowly and eventually lug-and-chugging its way to the summit. Meanwhile this truck maintains speed on a hill: with a measly 6 cylinders it can tackle most inclines in this country with a full load in the bed and not ever drop below the speed limit. Gasp. My new 6-cyl truck in college couldn't pull that.

So what more do you want? A track car? Go buy a track car then.

Love mine, wish had better MPG. Seems crazy that a ranger has the same oomph and towing capacity and gets 25mpg but I get 17-18.

I guess people are comparing the 3rd gen to the TRX and Raptor. If so then those trucks will be faster. If they are comparing the 3rd gen to other midsizes they are probably the same. I see 4cyl and V6 3rd gens keeping pace every day. Maybe people are expecting EV acceleration #s from a Tacoma.

Owned 1st gen, 2nd gen and now a 3rd gen. Keep on getting better. The 2nd gen was totaled and payout was what we paid for it 7 yr ago. You will not get that from another mid-sized pickup or jeep.

I owned an 08 Tacoma, put 350k miles on it and then totaled it. I bought a 21 Tacoma OR. Only issue with the 21 is the gear hunting, I’ve completely abandoned using the cruise control until I get the truck tuned.
    It is a good truck.

Idk why everyone is comparing 3rd gen to 2nd gen. It's not a comparison because you cant buy a second gen new right now. The competition for the 3rd gen isnt the 4.0L second gen. Its the Ranger, Frontier, Canyon/Colorado and Jeep Gladiator.

I was looking to get tuned a few weeks back but there is no tuner closer than 400 miles to me maybe further. Just give me about a week or 2 to get set up

There is a regional tuner in NJ. He came down to near Wilmington area twice since May...the 23rd (7.0) and then the first week in Jun (8.0)

No, fortunately we were not home when that one hit - the destruction happen September 19th of 2014. Was at lunch with an out-of-town college buddy in Centennial when all the sudden the storm-wall of solid white rolled across from the foothills. Sounded like bowling balls falling from the sky.
