Does anyone have the StartX remote start kit?
I bought the brand for the 2013 RAV4 and it was probably the easiest thing I’ve ever installed. 15 minutes. So easy! And it seems to be working fine though I’ve not used it that often. Bought for when the car is not in the garage and it’s cold out. It uses the factory fob (hit lock 3x).

I’d love to get StartX for my 08 Tacoma but it seems they don’t have it for my truck at this time. I’m hoping they’ll bring it back in stock.

Looks like Accessorides and 12volt are on sale for BF, unless these are the usual prices. Thinking I might finally buy one this week.

The accessoride is $90 off for BF.

Can anyone with the accessorides let me know if the lock/unlock function will still sound the chirp and flash my lights?

I had remote start added to my 2015 with the installation of the alarm system. Use it all the time.

I have had my accessorides for 2years with no issues and Yes you can turn it off by holding the same button on the remote that you use to start it.

Installed an accessorides remote starter a week ago and it's been awesome!

Now to figure out which fuse to tap into so my heated seats turn on at the same time.

Man you guys have me now wanting to buy a remote start!

I think I'm going to go with the Accessorides system but would really like to check out the install manual first. Went on their website thinking I could find a PDF but no-go. I'm I overlooking something or does someone know where I can find a manual specific for 2nd gens? Thanks!

I picked up the 2 WAY Accessorides Kit around Black Friday. It's currently sitting on my table awaiting installation. I can either message you the instructions or post them here. They have nice color photos but kinda seem a bit lacking in details. Also, there are some random wires and a sensor included in the kit. I had to reach out to customer service to figure out what they were. They answered via email really quickly and on a Saturday over a holiday weekend no less. I found out it was for a hood latch sensor so it can't start with the hood open. After re-reading, I did find what they were for.

Not having installed it yet, my first impressions are: that the fobs are quality, the harness and module look good, instructions are fair. No mention of how to mount the module or route the receiver. A parts list explaining what's in the kit would be nice too.

I did find a video on youtube showing install on a FourRunner that answered some of my questions.

Agree with this. Install took about an hour.

I didn't need to use any of the extra wires - don't care about tying into the alarm/horn, and didn't bother with the hood switch. I figure you'd really have to mess up to remote start it with the hood open when you're working on it, assuming you didn't disconnect the battery first.

Ran the receiver up by the mirror. I looked up the part number (ANT-2WFMX) on that for a little more detail, as I wanted to turn off the stupid blinking light.

I installed the Accessorides 2-way kits on both my 2nd gen(2015) Tacoma and my 4th gen(2007) 4Runner a couple weeks ago. Shipping got delayed by more than a week, but that was a courier issue rather than an Accessorides issue. Still managed to find one reasonably temperature'd day to get them installed.

The Taco got a NuStart module, and the 4R module was from iDatastart, presumably due to differences in the immobilizer between the two. Everything else was much the same. Pretty painless, and about 1 to 1.5hrs each for install time depending on how tweaky you are with tidy wiring and manicured zip-tie ends. I too ignored the hood switches (and much to my wifes dismay, the power rear window wire on the 4R), and ended up mounting the antennas up by the rear-view mirror on both.

No complaints with anything really, the harnesses were well made, instructions weren't stellar but decent enough to get the job done without much fuss, the programming/initialization procedures on both worked without issue, and the range is great. All in all, would recommend. Now that the temps are dropping down into sub-freezing territory, I quite like having warm vehicles to walk out to.

The hood switch is actually for if a mechanic is working on the car and accidentally hits the remote start, or a co-worker does to scare him. It's there as a liability feature so they can't sue you. If you're the only one that works on it then you're fine, if not you may want to add it to cover other peoples stupidity.

I did ponder this, and decided that if anyone else was to work on either of these vehicles, taking the battery out of the remote would be the CYA solution.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
I just wish there were plug-n-play options for us stick wigglers like the 12vSolutions kit. The wiring isn't incredibly difficult, I just don't like modifying the factory harness if I don't have to. And I hate being hunched under a dashboard doing critical wiring lol.

Update - moved the fuse tap that powers my heated seat relay to the IGN fuse. Heated seats now turn on with the remote start.

Yep, I'm the only one working on my own shitboxes.

Finally installed my Accessorides kit yesterday. Took me just over two hours. There were a few head-scratcher moments when it came to doing the programming charade but my buddy and I figured it out. As mentioned, the directions are a bit lacking. It would be nice to have a parts breakdown and honestly, the first step in bold print should be DISCONNECT BATTERY BEFORE INSTALL. Kinda boggles the mind they don't suggest that.

Now, my question for those who have installed this kit. If my headlights are on and I go to start the truck, and I toggle it off to kill it, my headlights stay on until the driver's door is manually opened. Is this normal? I don't foresee me shutting the truck off once it's remotely started but I'd feel better if they shut off when the truck is toggled off. Oh, also the chirp on the 2 way is loud! My dogs are not a fan...ha

I didn't do that, figuring that since most things are going to depend on ignition 'on', and that being a pre-made harness meant there wasn't any wire splicing happening, it wouldn't be a big deal. Sometimes you have to bareback it.

Just tested this on mine, and it's the same behavior. I pretty much never leave my headlights in the on position though. Too conditioned from decades of having vehicles that didn't turn their lights off automagically.

Definitely loud. I put a piece of gaffer tape over the back of my remote to quiet it down, but it does make it harder to hear the confirmation beeps in loud places.

Yeah the chirp on the fob is crazy loud lol. Turns out you can turn the chirp on/off really easily though so thats nice. I have mine off and just look at the green flash to know it started instead of listening for it.

    My hounds thank you!

That's another little gripe I have with the kit is the lack of instructions for the fob themselves. I feel like they could avoid a lot of customer inquires if they furnished things to begin with.

    Thanks again for the info.

Recently installed the 12V solutions one. Works great and I like the convenience of not needing the OE key fob for unlocking/locking. Other kits I have had on other cars in the past required both fobs be carried.
