I got a lifetime warrenty from my dealership. It covers everything from the engine to u-joints. No kidding. Any seals, water pump, feul pump. I thought is was ridiculous. But if anyone is interested about it, check out Hudson Automotive in Madisonville, KY. Great service also.

I bought mine used as a Toyota CPO which comes with 7yr/100K powertrain. I bought my wife's Honda new last year and didn't extend the warranty. If I thought they needed an extended warranty I'd be buying something else.

Did not buy the extended warranty, I have 65,000 miles and never had a problem. Well, except the compass/thermometer issue that I fixed myself thanks to this forum.

IF someone uses ANY extended warranty on anything they will buy them.. The Toyota cost on these warranties has been figured to provice then the the most PROFIT.

A 7/75 Warranty from Troy costs $610.....Toyota sincerely believes and from their OWN research and record keeping the MAJORITY will never use this warranty.....So why should I put my bet down against the house? With all I have saved in EX Service contracts on cars I could pay for a new drive train over the years and electrical system..Even after the repairs I made that would have been covered...

If I want to sleep better at night...Tylenol PM works a whole lot better and is cheaper lol

A LT manufacturer warranty is great only if you intend to sell your vehicle privately. It is a great selling point

DEFINATELY stay away from the Fidelity administered warranty in the Southeast, It is administered by the OWNERS of the Southeast Distributorship and therefore they have to file a claim "against themselves
for Warranty issues....conflict of interest?? I think so.
If you must buy an Extended Service Contract, but it ffrom the northern region...I believe that one is Toyota backed.

    Non yet
Okay, let me get this straight...
I just bought a 4xe Taco along with the 6yr/100k extended and the extra maintenance plan. I have yet to take possession of the truck.
If I want to, I can still cancel the extras with no penalties?

YES, you can cancel your Extended Warranty (VSC- vehicle service contract) at ANY time and the pro-rated amount goes towards the balance on your loan. Just remember.. every Taco comes w/5yr -60k powertrain.. so you can always buy a VSC from the Dealer before the Original Manufacturer one expires.

75k extended warranty here. I raised 10 kinds of hell when they told me that I had to pay $300 extra for hydrogen filled tires(including window etching) and that it was mandatory and there was nothing they could do. I told them bullshit. You either make that $300 disappear or I will walk. They said they couldn't eliminate the extra charge but will give me an $750 extended warranty for $600. I said no way. About an hour later I ended up getting that same extended warranty for $180.($3 extra per month @ 5yrs)

Everytime I go in for my free maintenance I still give them some shit about it.

LOL They have been using ECMs and sensors in cars since the 80's The electronics in today's automobiles are far far more robust, run cooler and for a lot longer than the same systems used 30 years ago. People who worry about electronics should buy years and not miles for the Extended Service Contract. I worry far more about lubricated wear parts than electronics. (Unless one loves driving under water)

Toyota is betting after long research that the majority of peple by a huge margin will NEVER use their Extended Service Contract up to $1200 in 125K miles.. and they are absolutely correct if for no other reason most people who buy warranties do not KEEP their vehicles for 7 years and 100K miles...and further more do not seek refunds for the warranty.

Bottomline is IF you are keeping the vehicle, buy the warranty at the END of the 36 month manufacturer warranty. At the end of three years one will know if they feel the "itch" to buy another in the next year or not.

It makes little sense to buy a warranty at the beginning of ownership. One is only buying today for three years in advance. If you sell, get totaled...you lose.

The most Toyota offers is 5 years 94K after the initial warranty which is the one to buy if one knows they are keeping their truck. I think that warranty might be $1200 or more at the Troy rate....

In any case anything major that goes bad will be fought by the dealer and they will want to see every service record and make one jump through a lot of hoops...especially iof it is a third party administered contract like Southeast Toyota offers and factory Toyota Service Contract" I would not buy a contract from the same company who owns the distributorship AND the Warranty Administering company that sounds like a huge conflict of interest!!! I don;t think most people in the southeast know South East Toyota owns Fidelity and Fidelity is not a "factory" Toyota Extended Warranty it appears in effect a third party warranty who may have an "agreement" with Toyota.

This is a great example of why an extended service contract can be worth the money IF you plan on keeping your truck.

How was the dealer experience? Did they give you any problems/ Ask for any records? etc. Would be nice to get a feel for how Toyota is backing these things. I would guess they back them since most people don't keep their vehicles long enough to use one and don't bother sending in the paperwork for a refund of the balance.

Well normally I dont buy extended warranties, but they sucked me into it, 1. for the fact I plan to keep this truck for a long time.
    2. because I got the JBL package for the bluetooth feature and read on here that the radio's tend to give a lot of trouble.

I paid $1500 for 100k 7 yr and 5 yr tire and wheel protection. Maybe I could have gotten it cheaper, IDK, but I think he started out at $2500 for this package. I'm usually a gambler on these warranties, but I do have some piece of mind. But I also had my wife's college grad program knock off $1000 on the price, so that helped to ease the pain.

If you have had your truck since 2001 you have indeed saved oh say $25,000-$30,000? plus interest you would have paid on a SINGLE new replacement since then...

Yeah you're ahead...waaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of the game.

I did not purchase the extended warranty . I still got a brand new frame, while Toyota were replacing my frame, the dealership installed my (4) Billie 5100's for free! A year later when I officially received the Toyota paperwork telling me to get my frame checked, The dealership undercoated the entire truck for FREE. Save your money, use the $ to lower your monthly payment instead.

I bought mine online. My last three vehicles the extended warranty has paid for itself. For the price it provides piece of mind. Just had the brakes (rotors and pads) on my wifes Subaru replaced under the extended warranty for free. Before my Tacoma my Tundra had work under extended warranty. I am a firm believer.

Nice. Put plain and simple: QC at any Toyota plant is far above any domestic or cheaper import. No need to waste your money on warranty when the NAME speaks for itself. TOYOTA: I will never break down and leave you stranded. You paid a lot of money for me because I'm worth every penny.

Does anyone know if you can sell back the extended warranty for a % of the original value based on time you've had it? I bought it figuring I would keep the truck forever, but am looking at getting a vehicle allowance through work and the vehicle has to be 4 years old or newer, so I will never really get any benefit from the extra money I spent...

Yes you can. Toyota sells a ton of these to people who never keep their vehicles and never seek a refund. Which is why consumer advocates recommend you do not buy them when you purchase the vehicle but wait until just before the Manufacturer warranty expires. you will know then how long you want to keep it. Whether or not it is frail. And you won;t pay any more than you would have lost in retro payments plus interest
