Agree - with all the others - doesn't get a whole lot easier that changing
yer oil in a taco. $15 bucks for oil and a filter and you are off to the races.

...Only thing that does suck is the location of the filter - I hate having to snake a piece of drain tube from the barb on the bottom of the oil filter
mount casting down to the drain pan  - really not a biggie considering
you do not have to jack the beast up to pop the drain plug.

    Snektaco,

you can always run a piece vinyl hose and leave it there. That is what I have. When done, I just coil it. Toyota did the best solution when it comes to changing the oil filter. Ever try changing the oil on a GMC Envoy? You will not mind running that hose on your Taco.

Sunday changed motor oil from dino to syn. Had been using a lube place for the dino changes. Greased all the zerks the lube place said I didn't have. Water came out of the two front ones. Oh well, I'll be doing it myself now. Going to go with 5K for syn OCI, was using OCI of 3k with dino.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Yep a good mechanic that is willing to look at everything underneath the truck is always a very good thing. If you find one, support him.....

To give you an example , my aunt has a 99 Corolla, the power steering pump went, while she was at a local station, instead of having it towed to competent shop that she has used, they talked her into letting them fix it. Major mistake, not only was the price to fix it a lot more but they overlooked a couple of things.
Unfortunately she did not call me and tell me her car had broken down.

    Jeff, 06,V6, SR5, 6spd.

I've always taken my Toyotas to the dealership I've purchased them at. Why? Free Lifetime warranty on the drivetrain - however the only catch is you must do all the required maintenance as outlined in your owners manual and have receipts for it if you do not have the dealership do it. If you go to another place you have to save all receipts - thus the dealership is easier and keeps the warranty intact.

Well, my truck just turned 3 weeks old--call me crazy--but I always dump the oil and filter at the first 1,000 miles. I like to make sure that anything left in there from the manufacturing process is flushed out. Yea--may not be necessary--but I makes me feel beter. In any case--I couldn't believe how EASY it was---nothing like the Titan I just traded in-or worse yet--my wife's CR-V. Way to go Toyota!!! LOL

Got free oil changes for the life of the truck when I bought it, so the dealership does the oil. I always double check the level after I leave, it's always been OK.

Myself, heard horror stories from quick lube joints. Like previously stated, I can go synthetic doing it myself vs. their cost at quick lube for dino.

Myself, but it'd be cheaper to go to the dealer... Royal Purple alone costs more than everything w/dino somewhere else.

I take mine to the dealership because my company pays for my vehicle maintenance. If I had to pay for it myself I would do the work myself. Instead I take it in every 5k like the manual says and I have the stealership keep up on all the BS Toyota says to do.
