Dealerships take too long and I've been done wrong by a dealership on my very first oil change back in 05. I have a friend thats a mechanic at a "jiffy lube" type place and i'm in and out in under 15 mins. Plus it's FREE so no need to get my hands dirty.

None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Walmart used to(at least in New England) but after thousands of screw ups they decided to close those doors!

I usually do my own, but with the 2 year 24 month service from Toyota, I guess I will let them do it. My question is, will they let me do synthetic? Even if I have to pay the difference? I hate to wait until 24k to start running synthetic. And how much will they charge me to do synthetic? Maybe it wont be worth having them don it, IDK? Anyone else doing this? Haven't had mine long enough yet.

I was in the same boat as you about 10 months ago. I hate having anyone else do ANY work that I can do myself, but I figured since it was free, I would have the dealership do it for two years. Well, I wanted full synthetic, and they said I had to pay the difference in price. I was fine with that since the difference in price is somewhere around 3 bucks a quart, so I figured I'd end up paying $15 or $20. After they finished changing the oil the first time, the gave me the bill and charged me $63! Needless to say, I gave them a piece of my mind, and have never been back since. I change my own oil for around $60 (usually a little less) with 6 quarts of Mobil 1 and a Mobil 1 filter.

This is goog to know. It's kinda what I figured would happen. I guess for my first change I will try to make them tell me ahead of time what the difference will be. Thanks.
