For the first two years the dealership will be doing this .... after that ..... 30 minutes well spent in the driveway.

Pennzoil Ultra every 5000 via my driveway and about 15-20 minutes. Luckily I work for Shell and get oil half price.

The filter is right on top and you dont even need to jack it up.. how could you not?

I let the dealer do it.....Helps when I want "something else looked at" while its there.
I bought my truck used with 24K miles ..ALL previous service had been done by Toyota, Figured its best to keep that record going for the next owner. I know that made a huge impact on my decesion to buy that particular one over the other three I was looking at. One was an 09 2WD with a lot of mods and 28K miles, Another was an 08 Sport TRD that was certified but messed up. Stained seats, accident, 32K miles, Another was an 08 4WD TRD (from NY State) ....didn't need or want 4WD,,,, None had dealer service records.

As far as the wife's RAV 4 and my bike goes I do those oil changes myself.

I got my first free oil change at the stealership, waited 50 min for it to be done, then the guy had the nerve to add $50 in unnecessary "inspections" i bitched the guy out and refused to pay, haven't let anyone besides myself or my mechanic/neighbor if im lazy to do it

Mine is still under warranty, so to the stealership it goes, at least until 25k (warranty expiration point) when I'll do it myself.

Why? Warranties are not dependent on dealership oil changes.

I got a 2001 and the filter could not be in a stupider position, leaking everwhere when you unscrew the filter.

With that said i change the oil myself.

Dealer in the winter because I don't always have access to a garage and it is cold and snowy here. Also at dealer when getting the truck inspected if it is due for a change (I'm there anyways so mine as well). Spring/summer/fall do it myself.
