I've always done it myself, don't trust anybody. But Toyota is offering 2 yrs. maintenance on all new vehicles for free, I'm kinda bummed in a way, cause it makes me nervous letting the stealership do it. But, 2 yrs. of free maintenance is hard to pass on.

I usually do it, but since I got the Toyota 2 year free maintenance when I bought my truck, I let the dealership do it.

I have done my own since shortly after getting my liscense. I have never used the service to have that done on any vehicle (car truck or suv). I also have a easy way to do it and that makes it that much simpler for me to do this. I own a shop, I have had it for about 12 years, and it used to be a trucking company, I mena around 60 years ago it was booming, but now it is just the place I change me oil and all of my buddies oil. All my friends get to use the shop, and buy their own oil so I can change it. I never have to buy oil because of the donations I get for doing friends oil changes. Having a pit makes it very simple, you walk under and get the plug out then let it drain whilst beers are consumed and shit is talked, then check all the other items that we can before filling it up and leaving. Good times everytime! JOE>

Plus ... changing the oil in a 2nd Gen V-6 is soooo easy ... you should have to pay Toyota to do it yourself ... :D ... easiest vehicle ever.

It just feels good to be self reliant. I do the oil in both my Tacoma and my parents Tacoma.

Its me or nothing. Last time i took one of my vehicles to a "jiffy lube type place" They charged me 75 dollars for synthetic, Tried to get me to have my whole radiator flushed because it "seemed" Clogged and on top of that? They tried convincing me it was in 2wd. That'd be right if it wasn't a All time 4x4 land rover... Idiots. I do all my own maintenance, Repair and modifications.

right now i take mine to the stealership... but if they do what they did last time i will call toyota directly and then do it myself. i used to work at a both a dealer and a jiffy lube(not at the same time). i worked at jiffy lube for one day. i saw them pull the full synethic oil change hoax once and quit that afternoon. when i used to work at honda i never had any complaints. i think people now a days are lazy and just dont care about anything. after toyota care i might start doing my own oil changes.. but for now they are free.

There is no way inhell I'd let someone that cares less the oppertunity to screw my truck up. Ive heard of too many horror stories letting others do this very simple task. I guess for the lazy 25 minutes is too much time to spend.

I know someone friend of a friend who works at a jiffylube type place... Heard him say that about 25% of the time he does a "spill and fill" And leaves the old oil filter on it. i wonder how many Poor SOB's have had 3 oil changes on the same filter and have paid for filters they never got.

I have only paid for one oil change at a shop. I just put on the budbuild and there was snow on the ground. Now i have a fumoto oil drain valve so i dont need to pull the skid off:rasta:
