These are the parts I am going to order. Am I missing something?

    Flywheel
    Pressure plate
    Disc
    Release bearing
    Ring gear
Slave Cylinder-going to add because of mileage

Also should I just get a new Release Fork since it will be open?

$916 in Toyota parts ordered from Partznet.com if I add the release fork. Parts from dealership are 32% higher. Dealership wants $1100 for 10 hours of work too.

I've done this job and if I were to do it again honestly I think I would do the tear down first, evaluate the parts, and then make the list.

The ring gear is an interesting item on your list. I have the OEM flywheel and it came with the ring gear. Beware, the OEM flywheel is ghastly expensive. You may want to consider resurfacing it instead if it is true and not cracked or heat damaged.

Are you doing this yourself? You can save a little (but not a lot) money by purchasing the AISIN kit at Rock Auto with the coupon code in this forum. It uses all the OEM parts. For sure I would do the shift fork/spring that attaches the throwout bearing, and maybe its ball pivot, depending on its condition. You may [will likely] find that the transmission snout (quill) is really scored. It is not a replaceable piece and may freak you out into thinking you will need to purchase a new transmission but there is an option. There is an aftermarket kit by PD & Mfg. in Colorado (www.pdmusa.com, 877-736-2775) that consists of a stainless steel quill sleeve, and the new revised OEM throwout bearing.

Finally, our 6-sp. transmissions do not use a pilot bearing so don't spend any time looking for one.

Dont forget the throwout bearing if you're doing a clutch job.

$1100 isn't bad for a stealership. Mine charges $2k for a clutch job on my 04.

Don't have the time to do it myself at the moment, putting on a two story addition.

Yeah don't mind spending a little more to have all new parts, then I know it is all new. Also if the dealership is charging $1100 to open this thing up I should just replace everything.

Cool so no separate ring gear ordered then. Will get the fork and look into the ball pivot. Great info thanks.
I can get the oem flywheel for $375 dealership wants $552. That kit you suggested would save $75 if it is really oem parts.

$855 for all oem parts including slave cylinder from my place.

Do you really think it takes 10 hours of work at the dealership?

Toyota calls it a release bearing so it is on the list. Good heads up though, thank you

Is there a write up anywhere on this job, parts/#s? I don't know why but my 07 has 133k and I am worried about the clutch. I have no failure symptoms but once I hit 100k, there's been this neon sign in my brain flashing...."clutch....clutch.....clutch"

If you go for it, take tons of pics for the write up. Not sure there is one. If you do the write up, you will be GOD around here for a while.

I have not liked mine for 70k or the last two years but to tell the truth I never liked how this clutch has felt. If it feels normal you really have nothing to worry about. Sold my last car with 241k original clutch and now this is almost to 200k. Partznet.com has all the parts numbers and prices for oem.

Had my original clutch changed right at 200k. Wasnt slipping or failing, just a little jerky when shifting. Changed out the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and clutch and it shifts like new now. Im a 5spd, although i will be getting a 6spd here in a few months..

Edited to add: i also paid $1000 when i had mine changed out at the dealer, however, thats because i know one of the techs that work there and he does a bunch of work for my family. We own 4 toyotas at the moment so hes our go to guy

I agree with resurfacing the existing flywheel. It's a single mass flywheel and should be no problem for any shop (some Napa parts stores included) to do. I have just purchased the URD stage 2 clutch kit with TOB fix and I'm only at 41k miles. However, the supercharger doesn't help...

200k miles, $375 for OEM flywheel is nothing to me if I know it's new.

    Why URD 2 over OEM?
    Stronger? Feels better?

Hes most likely doing urd stage 2 due to the supercharger. OEM clutches just dont hold up to the extra torque..

Imagine replacing your clutch every 35k
OEM has lasted 200k so far, going to stick with it on replacement
    Not putting in a supercharger

Bad habit but I hold my clutch peddle down most of the time at lights because the quick shift doesn't engage well in first gear. But I have to say I have never had a squeal from the TO bearing and all my clutches have lasted over 200k. Wonder if it is a myth that holding your clutch peddle down is bad.

I would like to know more about this, I always would hold the clutch down at lights and what not, until I joined TW and saw folks poking fun at those who do this, I am trying to break the habit now, but I love to get on the gas as soon as the light turns. (The racer in me)

X2 = I would like to know if this is true too, as I have heard people say this and it does make sense if it's a long light.
