Yeah, next to my military pension, my military healthcare is my second best benefit from my 23 years of service. I pay $282 a year, $0 deductible and very little copays ever.

Did you get the penalty for your 10%+ miss on federal or do you fall into one of the exceptions?

This country was great before the income tax. That's one of the things I miss about it. Socialism is great too, until you run out of other peoples' money.

I'm sure I'll get it extra hard seeing as I'm going in to engineering too...

Made a bunch of stuff black.
I didn't get penalized for anything. I'm in the 25% tax bracket that straight bends over the middle class. Even with all the taxes I paid, I still ended up with more money in my pocket. So it wasn't a complete waste, it just sucks paying that much. Especially when people who don't pay that much get huge returns.

You mean being taxed on and off until being found unconstitutional prior to the 16 amendment in what...1913 or so? I've seen it a time or two. :boink:

Good deal. Some get charged a penalty if the amount paid during the year is < 90% actual.

Damn dude. You were in the military for 23 years? That's a lot of D take on the regular.

They didn't teach us that during my public school years (2003-2007 high school). Even the current school system is shit. They teach us what is convenient to their "program" so they can break us down and mold us into what they want us to be. Conform conform conform!

Even the textbooks and literature is manipulated in such a way to make us look like this fantastic country (though we really aren't anymore). Since kids are basically sponge's and absorb and retain everything they are taught at an early age, it is easy to manipulate their thought process.

There is no law requiring you to pay income tax. My only point was that America was better off before we started using the power of the Federal government to wholesale steal from each other, and had greater respect for the property of others.

Right you don't have to pay income tax, but if you don't pay your it, off to prison you go.

Yep, 12... 23 years. Spent 13 of them living overseas and enjoyed all 23 years. Got to travel to lots of other countries and many of the US States, too. Awesome way to earn a living!

Won't get off on a political thread killer, just recommend you read the 16th amendment which gives the fed legal authority to levy tax.

It is a great way to earn a living. Highly agreed. With that being said, however, I do have to put out there that it is definitely not a job or career for everyone, and definitely not the faint of heart.

Lol this thread went from taxes, to the current job pool, to politics, politicians, and everything else in between. Funny how it all ties in. Lol.

Absolutely true, not for everyone. I knew many people who couldn't wait for their enlistment to be up. And it's not all peaches and cream, that's for sure.

When amendment passed it did not apply to wages and salaries.

Definitely not bubblegum, sunflowers, and butterfly kisses at all. I am 50/50 on the enlistment side. I can't wait for it to be up on one end, but I am also willing and know I am able to do one last active duty tour.
