I only ran one radar detector my entire life and it was a V1. Worked great, the indicators made sense, and it alerted me to situations where less prepared and alert drivers were going to soon be making panic maneuvers in their cars so I could prevent getting tied up in their pathetic attempts to pretend that they were not just openly breaking the law five seconds ago. I've found that the best tool to reduce speeding tickets is the "geezer mod" that I have installed in my truck. It decides that wherever I'm going will be there when I get there and sets the cruise control to the speed limit thus allowing me to relax and enjoy the scenery.

And if anyone wants to buy my old V1 let me know and I'll dig it out. I'll even make you a sweet "buddy price" for it as well.

    Check Build Thread!!
As someone who runs a Radar Detector, with over 300+ HP supercharged, and spends 95% of my time on the highway. Even I usually have the cruise set to just 10-15 km/h over. I cover 100-800km/day, fuel economy matters.

2 Valentine 1's. Saved me thousands of dollars. My newest Valentine is in my S2000. There's no reason to have that car unless you have warning. And I do drive the snot out of the car. Honestly, I rarely drive the speed limit.

It is not illigal to use a detector in Va. That was years ago. Cops are funny at check points. Most point to the detector and lie about radar blockers, POP, etc. i just nod politely and don't mention that I picked them up miles away.

You should probably recheck the law in VA

    http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+46.2-1079
Statute 46.2-1079 explicitly says they're illegal
