Who else remembers where they were?

8th grade. I am named after an austronaut so space travel has always captured my attention. Sad day in history

 

Had just finished class and was headed to do lunch with the wife. Heard about it on the radio. Ended up having lunch with most of her department. We sat in a pub for a couple of hours watching the news. Everyone was just shocked

 

I was at work delivering pizza, I even remember the exact apartment complex I was pulling out from when they broke in on the radio.

 

I was a young buck, hard at work on a jobsite in Shrewsbury Ma.

 

From where I was at the time, in St. Pete, Fl., we could see shuttle launches if the sky was clear, and would hear the sonic booms when they came in to land. I actually watched the explosion from the loading dock of A+M Supply in Pinellas Park...

 

Watching it on the TV in the 6th grade library

 

At my babysitter's house since I was in Kindergarten and it was 1/2 day...

 

Was 13yrs old in 8th grade and had my first ever experience of kissing two girls at the same time.They both were two of my older sisters friends!

 

Standing @ Jetty Park in Cape Canaveral Fl and had tears in my eyes as I knew what had happened, My Grandfather worked for Grumman and along with Rockwell built and designed the wing/tail sections in the 70's that what would later become standard on every Shuttle...

 

In high school , Grade 12

Teacher brought a tv into class after it was announced what happened and we watched the post accident coverage

 

Was in elementary school. Our teacher wanted us to watch the launch on TV.

 

3rd grade, principle came on announcement and remember saying a prayer as a whole school with the principle.

 

Was on a flight from Seattle to DC for a job interview when getting out of the Navy.

 

I was in 10th grade History class. The teacher had it on the TV so that we could watch it. I remember him saying that we would always remember this! He was right.

 

gettin my diaper changed... or was i getting burped? hmmm..

 

9th grade science class. They sent us all home early.

 

The year after my daughter was born. Thank god for their courage. Everyone dies but not everyone truly lives.

 

1st grade when this happened. Remember a plaque that was hung after it happened......I was young and really did not reflect on it much. Remember there was a woman on board and for some reason that bothered me. Seems like forever ago now.
