I read online that they had problems with the air injection valve and the pump assembly and that they allow water into them.

I have an 07 all stock.
I’ve replaced front wheel bearings (2x) and the needle bearing in the differential. I did have the recall done in the spiral cable and leaf springs.

I also had a rear axle seal leak, but that might be considered partially my fault. As I didn’t check the rear breather like you should. If this gets plugged up, you’ll blow an axle seal.

Other than that, I’ve had no issues. I’m at 154k on mine.

My first Tacoma was an ‘07 AC OR. Much more solid feeling (doors, plastics…) than my ‘15. Drove it for 351K miles and sold it for over $5,000 back in 2017 (discounted for VN combat vet who set the price). It’s still going strong the next town over.

Needed routine maintenance, 2 sets of wheel bearings and a steering rack. Passed the frame test too.

Worst year I think not. And yes, the headgasket redesign was implemented in November 2005 and did not affect the 2007 MY.

Auto. 4.0. Loved having the locker though I only used it a few times in the 10 years I owned the truck. Came in real handy when I did. Looked for used OR when I got the '15 and couldn't find any in the few months I was looking. I'm happy enough with the '15 SR5 - same configuration 'cept for the OR package.

Can't see me in a 3rd Gen and I figure I could be happy with this one indefinitely. Waiting to see what the 4th Gen might bring and that'll probably be it for my planned, truck buying experiences. But not a first year MY

07 Prerunner purchased in 2012 with 30,000 miles. Truck just turned 103,000 and to date the only issue was the temperature/compass display. I repaired it twice before picking the newer version about 6 years ago. Very solid truck IMO.

My 07 is sitting at 197k. Paid 7,500 for it in 2020 at 176k and immediately drove it across the country. I’ve replaced the front wheel bearings, idler pulleys, power steering pump (the bearing for the pulley was shot), and the ac fan motor in just over two years. It’s been way better than my 02 tacoma that had a shot frame!!

I'm the original owner on a '07 4dr 4.0L prerunner with135k miles. Really only standard maintenance (oil, coolant, filters, brakes, etc..) and an alternator replacement after it started whining about 10k miles ago.

Engine surge at higher gears was common complaint along with drivetrain unreliability. But I've experienced zero.

I bought my 07 in August 2007. It has 226,000 miles on it. I replaced shocks/struts at 125,000. Replaced the alternator at 180,000. I've done the front brakes 3-4 times and the rear brakes once. Replaced one U-Joint at 170,000. Other than oil, filter, plugs and serpentine belt changes that is it. It still drives like new. I've never added a drop of oil other than when changing it every 10,000 miles.

I bought my Taco in 07. It has 150K+ miles. I did have a 1 wheel bearing issue some time ago & the leaf spring replaced with the Toyota recall. Otherwise, I've not had any issues other than the paint. In addition it's not stock. It has a 6" lift, TRD exhaust, Thorley headers, Underdog/TRD X-1 ECU setup, 17" tires, etc. I repainted the top cab & hood a few yrs ago because it was starting to rust threw. I'm now repainting the fenders, bumpers & window panels & going to ceramic coat it soon. Here's a couple pics so far. I bedlined the fenders & bumpers. It's time to replace my Procomp shocks. I have Fox on order from Accutune & will hopefully have those installed soon. I live next to the beach so rust prevention is critical. It's a work in progress.
