2020 TRD Sport 4x4 DC here.

My steering wheel points slightly to the right.

Funny enough, this is the 3rd new vehicle that I bought that has this issue. Alignment isn't off (as in, the truck doesn't track one way or the other).

go back to the dealer and have them correct it. although i never trust dealers. they often create more problems. this is a simple adjustment and kind of pathetic it gets past everyone. if the dealer isn't helpful try another dealer or be smart and find an independent Toyota truck tech you can trust. because you'll eventually want that after warranty anyway.

Mine was dead straight from the factory.

No big deal though, just take it in and get it adjusted. They should provide you with alignment numbers before and after so you can see what they did.

My '19 tilted to the left. Toe was out, dealer aligned and straightened steering wheel. Truck still wandered until 5,000 tire rotation

This just means the road is not level.

    You have bad roads.

In Pa, if you’re not holding your steering wheel to the left, you’re out of alignment. Hard to tell though as you’re dodging potholes most of the time.

Mine was out as well, cocked to the left slightly. Alignment numbers are perfect; still a bit of pull to the right. Road crown and 32” all terrains probably make up the little it’s off. I might try to ask my alignment guy to compensate for road crown a bit just to see how it drives.

    Yeah mine is straight too...

@zx10_afm was your truck manufactured in Texas or Mexico? If you are unsure it should on the inside of the door frame. Mine was made in Texas but since yours is a Sport too I think it was made in the same place. Just weird for it to be missed by QC...

This is a Mexican truck and I’ve for sure had my doubts regarding quality for that very reason!

(All DCs are made in Mexico)

Sounds like the Common denominator is you or the roads. It could be off though, if you're particular about it, seek a shop that will align til it drives right, not just rack it and get within the wide range of spec

I have two Tacomas - a 2018 SR AC work truck and my new 2020 TRD Sport DC.

The ‘18 is dead on and the ‘20 is off.

I’ll be sure to get it adjusted, but I am curious how many people experienced this.

Also, while I have no issues with the SR AC, I am finding issues left and right with the TRD Sport (possible axle issue, brake drum warpage, two wheel center caps fell off), 51 miles now. Viva La Mexico!

My 19 was off. Dealer said alignment and fixed it. Straight ever since.

That myth of Tx vs Baja plants has been debunked for some time now. Axle issue as in seepage? I know they are still having problems with the gasket / torque settings. Center caps are on your dealer, as they are installed after delivery, mine were jacked too, dealer even broke a tab on mine. My 17's alignment was also off new, they fixed it no problems.

Thanks for the info! Didn’t know the dealer installed them - they said I have to go through a tech to submit a warranty claim after he/she verifies the “cause”...

Axle issue as in vibration from rear end - noticed under braking. This isn’t confirmed by Toyota yet, just my opinion (hence my word choice ‘possible’). Something is not right, though.

I bought my truck knowing it was made in Mexico, I’m not opposed to it. However, how has the quality myth been busted? What real evidence is there (genuinely curious) as opposed to what people say here on the forum?

My 16 sport was off by 3/4 inch / had the dealer "fix it" and then it was off by 1-1/8 inch
so i said fuck them and just turned the toe in on one and out on the other till it was straight, I think it was about 3/4 or so of a turn to fix it , that was 40,000 miles ago.

Just use a paint pen to mark where you started from and match the turns

There has been countless threads comparing trucks and issues between both plants, for instance the CPS failures (trucks from both plants), the rear diff leak (trucks from both plants), etc. etc. From a manufacturing standpoint the processes should be identical and maintaining that "Kaizen." People just like to do the jump straight to the whole "made in mexico so its sh*t" I think I remember one guy who worked at the Baja plant even saying there is literally the same QC and same processes in place. Ive had trucks from both plants a few times over, no noticable difference.

Mine didnt go missing as far as the caps but I did raise a stink on my first service appointment showing the guy the bent tab, replaced no questions asked.

A few members have reported vibes on new trucks while braking, hmmm, I think there may even be a TSB floating around about it.

I am sorry to hear that... Hopefully the dealer can step up and take care of you. There shouldn't be issues like that with a truck worth roughly $36000.

Also, I never heard any issues with either plant but it could be a possible QC issue at the Baja plant since it is fairly new? I may be wrong though.
