i have had my sc for a year and 10,000 miles now and really like to make it whine. i am gonna guess that after the next set of mods i am gonna be pushing $46k. mileage is terrible, when i changed jobs, i went from 75 miles per day to 7. probably average less than 20 mph and get 12-13 mpg around town. will drive it for a long time. taco meets all my requirements. i wouuld suggest saving $$ for sc. u will have to wait a little longer, but a stock taco with a sc is gooood.

OEM TRD supercharger, OEM wheels painted black by me, yellow sidemarkers, arb bumper, LED interiors, roll-n-lock, 5% rear windows, mudflaps removed, protector alarm, mobile trace, blacked out front Toyota emblem, debadged, & tree air freshener.
TRD supercharged Taco here. Good power, will smoke most V8 trucks and rice rockets out there, and get mileage isn't that much better. 12-14 around the city for me and 18-22 on the highway, depending on weather.

If you have the money and want to make your Taco more exciting, go for it! Oh yeah, it uses premium gas so be prepared to pay more at the pump!

maybe its just my driving style but I have a stock 05 v6 trd OR and im always the first off the line a red light. I feel that i have more power than i did in my 5.3 silverado. To me these trucks will flat out roll in comparison to being a truck.

Does anyone know if you put an URD on a 2.7 do you have to run premium fuel? Does the gas milege go down a bit? I am not much of a lead foot at all and usually run 65-70 on the highway always. In town I shift at around 2500 or 3000 RPMs

Any boosted application needs premium fuel.

Yes the TRD SC is intercooled with an air to water system. It is fairly nice.

Ok I have a SC taco and I LOVE IT! As for longevity of the engine is havent had a problem yet, came close to blowing motor though  If you looking to get your tacoma SC and have the money I would say do it! And I had mine done from a friend who owns a few toyota dealerships and got warranty with it and all. With just SC you should be running 0-60 in around 6sec, last I checked i did 0-60 in a little over 4sec so not too bad :D

It shouldn't affect longevity at all, given everything else is equal. That's why the TRD kit is a fairly conservative set-up, and it has the warranty it does.

However the SC does promote harder or more aggressive driving, which in theory, could lower the longevity.
