    So much hate for Century...:spy:

My 2012-ish WASR-10 hasn't killed me yet and shoots well enough. Traded a plain ol Gibson SG for it, a handful of mags, roughly 500 rds, and some odds n ends back in 2015 or so. I would've kept the SG for its AC/DC vibes if it didn't neck-dive so damn badly, and I'm kinda branded to Fender anyway.

Pics of my gun are in here somewhere

^no they aren't you moron lol

WASR-10s are good since Century didn't really make them.

This thread is filled with much goodness. I approve.

I have no issue with PSA. Well except their LONG delay times in the past.............which were probably a portend of things to come :spending::crapstorm::beavisd:

This second pic made me emo. :pout: I've gotten rid of about half those guns, but for seemingly good reasons. It was also taken in early 2016 and work was fragile at that time, the industry my company relates to is always on the hot sheet when it comes to EPA and big energy, so guns and guitars had to be thinned just in case.

Savage Model 11 (I think) .223/5.56 decent Nikon scope - sold
Savage 64 22LR Simmons 22LR scope iirc or similar 22LR specific glass/reticle - sold to a TW member for truck parts :)
Ruger SR40, OD green Cerakote, every mod Galloway Precision made except sights - sold because I'm too skinny and it was heavy, should've kept for house/range gun
    Taurus Model 85 38spl - my EDC
Old ass Savage/Stevens/Fox/Sears/JC Higgins/etc Model 101.16 (I think) 22S/L/LR semi-auto my grandad gave me that needs some parts - still have it and still needs parts
The mighty WASR! Still in this same configuration more or less. No major mods really, but always looking for improvements. Never getting rid of it.
Stevens 350 Security w/ ghost ring and green fiber front, modeled after the Ithaca 37, bottom feed- bottom eject. Still have it.

With todays market and the under 1K limit I would suggest a Zastava Arms.
You can find them relatively easily and they run in the $950-1300 range.
If we were talking 2019 prices I would have suggested an Arsenal SLR-107, which could have been bought for under $900 then, now it's in the $1500+ range if you can even find them.

FYI, AK's are like potato chips, you just cant stop at 1.
Enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole. :D

I have resisted until now and owned a gun shop for 3 years now

I have a regular customer who keeps trying to convince me to come to the dark side but he wants me to spend big money and I'm just not ready to do that

If WASRs are acceptable for a starter rifle...I can usually find those in the distribution chain for under a grand

And I may wait out things and see if prices come back down but I learned a hard lesson last year when I was having trouble justifying shooting my ARs but 7.62 ammo was pretty much readily available throughout 2020...sure higher than normal but not exorbitant like 5.56 was

WASRs are awesome guns to start with too. My BIL has one and loves it. They’re a solid AK and you get way better prices than us.

That’s a good point. Throughout the panic 7.62x39 ammo was available and the cheaper rifle caliber round available. Still expensive, but better than .223/5.56.

It can be had for around 27 CPR now

This same reasoning worked for me when I had my SR40 before 2016. Ammo for it was available nearly everywhere for very reasonable prices when 9 was scarce or gouged all to hell n back.

I figured I should post my SAM7SFK SBR. I stocked up on plenty of ammo after Sandyhook.
