Who has an AK (and variants)?

Well the ones they got were a limited run. Just like the SAM7UF from 2014.

The SAM5 they're selling now are brand new 2021 rifles. Confirmed by Cliff at k-var himself. So yes I understand they're mad they're bringing in more but they did get a limited run 2020 rifle and the new 2021 will be the same thing. That's why when the UF returns soon I won't be upset with buying one earlier

Nice job getting in on one too! I'm searching for clear mags and an AK19 for it. Have eyes on both just waiting to pull the trigger.

i saw a ak19 mag floating around on reddit a few days ago, aoa has some 556 mags but they are not reinforced, kobold customs might have a few options but i have found their inventory to be lacking these days of anything unique

Somewhere, and of course I can't remember now, I saw WASR's for like $799 the other day. I think over the weekend. They were actually claiming to be in stock as well!

i personally wouldnt get one but the wasr would be the better bet between the two

 

I was told years ago (2014ish) when I got mine,that the wasr was the only gun to buy for sub-$1k to get into an AK. I should've just saved a little and gotten a Saiga for just shy of 1k!

luckily i have two veprs 308/54r sitting in my safe that i paid ~600 at the time that came with 10 mags each

Maaaaannn..... I was perusing the hawk shop one day after work, dunno why, just felt like stopping in for their last 20 minutes of business Saw a used CETME 308 for $560 and didn't buy the damn thing! Still kick myself for that one.
Not real sure why I want one, but I do. I guess it'd be okay for deer hunting, target shooting; hope I never have to, but home defense as well. Plus they cool AF imo.

Just out of curiosity, since I have most of the Veprs I want, except for the .308, does the Vepr .308 take Saiga mags? Been thinking about getting a .308 Vepr, just have not seen any in awhile. At least, that are in my price range, lol.

 

What have you got that'll fit my dirty wasr?
I know I need a better optic mount for certain. I'm on the fence on furniture for sure. Looking at muzzle devices now.

they can but you need to either convert the mag well or modify the mags themselves

BAH! My woman would love the purple, but you said I can't have anything but wood on it lol!

I do want a grater upper handguard, though. I think that would go decent keeping my Magpul grip, wood lower guard, and a wood stock.

 

Definitely man! A $30 grater is better than a plum stock. Khybercustoms should have some AKM instock. That's a much better look

 

A few questions:

I bought a WASR-10 for $600 from Primary Arms right before SHTF last year. The furniture looks like it was made from a school desk and I'd like to replace it while keeping the gun looking old-school cool.

1) What's the best place to source new Ak wood furniture?

2) I picked up an older bakelite grip for $5. Problem is, the WASR pistol grip screw does not fit the older pistol grip. Where should I source the appropriate screw?

3) I've replaced some internals with: the Lightning Bow trigger kit and spring from ALG Defense (I put ALG triggers in everything I mod), added the Akula muzzle brake, a Tapco retaining plate, an SVDM side mount rail (free from work), and a DPM recoil system (seems gimmicky but it was also free from work so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). I'm thinking about a Krebs safety, too. Is there anything else I should consider to improve the function of the WASR (I know I know, Rifle is Fine).

4) Optics. I'd like to co-witness something that's not too big or bulky. I'm not married to the SVDM and I'm not against mounting something out over the hand gaurd. I have astigmatism so dots don't work so well for me. I've been lucky with Holosun and their MRS reticles. I have a 510c but I think a tube-style site would look better on an AK. What are your recommendations?
