You guys think a Saiga that has been re-militarized and has an Ace folding stock, flash hider and Krebs sight an even trade for a mid-level AR? I'm thinking about standardizing calibers and getting rid of the Saiga via trade and was wondering if I should be able to get a basic AR out of the deal.

id keep the AK and wait a little while the market is gonna be flooded with people trying to sell off their impulse purchases and youll find AR's for 400-500$ all day long for entry level models imho

The AK guys might find this interesting.

I guess there was a time they would booby trap amo. Here is what happens when an AK goes wrong.

I read up on this one time back in Nam days. The Gov did hijack a whole pallet of AK ammo and tore it down meticulously so they could get to an inner carton. They opened it up and opened one box and took one round out, emptied the powder and filled it with TNT. They put everything back as usual and dropped it into enemy hands. They said when that one round went off it actually drove the bolt back into the shooters head. Made the others around him shoot not so accurately after seeing that. :)

Make only one round out of an entire pallet do that? I call bs, theres no way that they would make just one round to kill just one guy.

It would make sense if you meant that one round out of each box did that.

i dunno, the psychological effects of that would be nasty.
psychological warfare is much more valuable than brute force.
brute force will always be in war and there's no replacing it.

It makes it a featurless rifle in CA, if it doesn't have a pistol grip or any other "evil feature" besides a detachable mag than you don't have to run a bullet button.

Just took my '74 to the range. It's fun to shoot, but I'm not really sure if I like it better than my '47.
