The stock is a fiberglass Jungle stock that I fit to the gun. The original wood is pretty beat so I'd rather just wrap it up and put it on the shelf

Selling my Vepr to fund some other things. Comes with extra mags, bipod, and optic. I put probably 4-5 mags through it and previous owner mentioned he didn't shoot it much either.

    $2500 shipped with original box

If you guys were looking for a budget ($800-1200) AK rifles in 7.62 what would you be looking for; new for sake of discussion.

Zastava/WBP has really been the only thing on my radar. I think I can deal with yugo pattern differences. Is there anything specific I should hold out for?

I’m far from an expert, but I’ve got about <2K rounds through my Atlantic WASR and it’s been excellent to me. I actually prefer it over most everything in my “tacticool” collection. Take my opinion with a big grain of salt though because I’ve only shot maybe half a dozen AKs in my life and everything else I know is what I read online.

You can get a wasr for about $850 shipped if you look hard. Issue is they don’t have the dimples in the magwell. Some people that’s an issue for authenticity while others don’t care about a little mag wobble.

Other option is the Jack by WPB. Almost identical to the fox except it doesn’t have a proprietary real trunnion that requires modding a wood stock. The jack is the closest thing we have to an actual AKM rifle in the states that’s offered today. Even has a optic rail that’s similar to a PKML in looks.

Don’t get a Yugo. Quality is ok and I’ve seen some bad QC lately. That coupled with proprietary furniture it’s my last option for an ak.

You may want to check out Rob Ski's site (AKOU) he has in depth reviews/test on many of these. https://www.youtube.com/c/AkOperatorsUnion/featured

The WASR's are generally ok, I just would not pay what they are going for now. When they were at the sub/$500 range ok, but not $850+. For that price I would buy a PSA Gen5 as a plinker.

I see others had QC problems with their Yugo's, maybe I've been lucky but all the fit and finish on my Zastavas over the last year+ have have been really good, in fact great for the price. Only complaint about them is they are heavy, very similar to a VEPR's in weight.

I have not shot the WBP's, have seen a lot of good reviews on them, and will probably eventually get one, but I'm waiting on them to come back down to pre pandemic sub $1K levels....hopefully. :D
Also, not sure we'll see the Arsenals come back down to the sub $1K levels (stamped versions) anytime soon, but a solid choice as well.

The AK rabbit hole is a deep one, good luck!

I must have hit the WASR lottery because I have a “just right” magwell and a not canted anything . Haha
I will say it needs the typical hammer to bolt interface polishing . Typical bump or hump or whatever you wanna call it , as the bolt rides over the hammer

Check out the new(er) zpap m70; 1.5mil receiver, bulged trunnion, chrome lined barrel. Really good value for the price. They do take yugo specific furniture, but magpul, hogue & midwest all make stuff for it.
