The VZ can be fed with stripper clips, is short stroke piston, and has a milled receiver, just an FYI.

Whatever you get, check it out in person first. Make sure the Bolt Carrier doesnt get hung up on the receiver rails during the range of motion. Make sure the front sight is aligned properly, and make sure the barrel passes the bullet test.

Both guns have pretty good track records. I would go with the ak variant, just on the simple premises that mags are easier to find. Good luck, and as stated before either buy from someone you can actually inspect the firearm, or buy from someone like atlanticfirearms.com. These guys are stand up guys when it comes to problems with a gun.

Looks great condition wise. I used to have one of the fixed stock and the underfolder too. I still have the under folder AB2 model. The AB1 like yours has such a straight back stock it is hard to get low enough to use the sights well. And then when you do get it to where you can see them and you shoot you get cheek slap. Just relaying what I have read and experienced. Your mileage may vary.

It is high but I've not had issues with any 'cheek slap' that people reported. I've also have not had issues with mag wobble or canted sights. I am amazed of the price and quality compared to a Wasr. It was this or a Wasr but I am glad I didn't get a Wasr. The finish of the other guy who ordered his online arrived same day as mine and his stock was junk and the finish was terrible. Not knocking Wasr because I've not shoot one but just the look and finish wasn't up to par in my eyes. The Wasr maybe easier to upgrade but I am the type that if the gun shoots don't mess with it. A+++ for the N-Pap.

Not sure if you have visited my M70 web page yet but there are a few neat things there. The page shows the AB1 and the M59/66 SKS but both of those are sold and gone now. Sold the AB1 and put the money towards a brand new Ruger RedHawk in 45 Colt. You can push this RedHawk into the 454 Casull range, almost. Sold the SKS a few weeks ago, guy that bought it was familiar with these rifles and went nuts over the newish condition it was in. Used that money to get one of the new Magnetospeed V3 chronographs. It works great and reads every shot I have shot across it, unlike the optical ones I have tried. Enjoy the web page, lot's of rifle Grenade launch videos there and if you follow the M59/66 link it has even more as that was all I used it for. Roadrunner has threatened for months now to remove the sites as the personal pages I use to host it are going away so go look before it's gone. :)

EDIT: Long day, I guess having the link here might help some....

A few weeks ago I picked up a Century Arms WASR 10. I am going to be taking it to the range this weekend to shoot it for the first time. I am pretty pumped.

    I'll play....

If any of you ever wondered what grip that is on my M70 it is an original hard rubber FAL M249 SAW grip. They will fit the AK's just fine. Much larger surface for a better grip plus they have a large compartment for storage inside. IMO, the M70 is the best AK ever produced, period. 1.6mm receiver, ( like the PSL and RPK), thicker barrel than most AK's, factory Tritium night sights, NATO rifle grenade launching ability, bolt hold open followers in the magazines and if you notch your safety lever it becomes a manual bolt hold open. Now any AK magazine can be made to use the bolt hold open followers and any AK can have the safety lever notched as well. Great for cleaning or "Range is cold" situations. BTW, those are Isreali "practice" rifle grenades, not real ones. I painted them with stencil work and added the pull ring for effect. Those are some of the best RG's to practice with as the head is solid rubber and the fin and tube assy's are replaceable. Back in the day when I was launching a lot of them I got so good I could hit a car at 150 yards with it. I make my own launch cartridges, CH4D sells the crimp die and I pull Wolf bullets and use the case and primer to hold 15 grains of Unique powder. Seal the crimp with thickened fingernail polish. That is enough to launch the RG's a good 200 yards if ya angle it that high. Real AK Yugo RG launch cartridges contain some black powder, they are very violent and launch the same weight RG 400 yards easily. NEVER SHOULDER FIRE an RG, you will regret it. No, I never did but a buddy of mine insisted on doing it one day. He says he will never do that again for the rest of his life. I warned him. .

One Saiga 556x45 22" and one new Yugo Zastava 7.62x39 both are almost bomb proof super reliable and fun. Id use Either one in a shtf scenario.

They all are featureless now...I'm on CG too and make the kydex grips myself. I'm working on bringing back to life (and making Ca legal) banned Chinese AK's and Krinkov style Ak's

Interested to see how the Kalashnikov Usa does

Here are mine... the top is a "slightly" modified Saiga-12. The rifle on the bottom is my newest acquisition, a Zastava N-PAP M70.
