Who Has De-Badged Their Tacoma

Debadged mine on a lazy afternoon in the Mojave just a few weeks after getting the truck. Fishing line, mild heat, goo-gone and in a few places a 3M de-pinstriping wheel. DO NOT use "goof-off" which is acetone based and will dissolve your paint. Make sure you are using "goo-gone" which is citrus based.

I hate chrome.

 

I've had people ask my wife if mine was a Tundra when she was driving it. No one ever approaches me to talk about anything when I'm alone, I must not be as approachable as she is...

 

Either that or you're not as cute as she is.

 

I dont have any better pics at the moment, but i de-badged and de-flaired mine.
Flairs will likely be put back on after they are trimmed, but im in no rush.

I have never had a problem using Goo Gone--bonafide actual Goo Gone not some clone, and absolutely NOT Goof Off which is a paint remover--just make 110% sure your have a clean wiping cloth, and replace it as it get dirty to avoid micro-scratches in the paint.

 

Well, to each his own, and yes, the former owner of my Taco overblinged it... but I don't get this thread, unless the goal is to look like a paramilitary vehicle or a cable TV truck. It's like those guys who go out and buy a $2500 Gibson Les Paul, but in flat black paint. ????

I'm an old fart, though, so that's probably why I like chrome. Hell, put some big fins on the back of my truck and paint it two-tone, Coral with a Black roof! Stick a big bullet bumper on the front and throw a continental kit on it with skirts on the rear wheels! LOL

 

I added this small toyota badge, it is very clean and looks great.

 

Please send me your Tacoma Badges,I will take them ALL of your hands! Just Plasti Dip your Trucks too and Move on !

 

I debadged mine...

 

Took badges off the tailgate which looks very clean. Left the door badges because I like those.

And left the TRD decals too.

I'm surprised I haven't seen someone post the typical "Toyota don't pay me to advertise" crap lol

Pulled all badges and TRD stickers. However, left TOY TACO on the tail gate.

 

Took all the badges off.

 

This looks almost identical to mine. I think I'm going to do the de-badge this weekend (once I have some free time). Need to get myself some Goo-Gone. I used the same technique to remove the huge Leer badge that was on the back of my cap. I like the blacked-out wheels and buyers too.

 

I used http://www.autozone.com/paint-and-body/paint-and-decal-remover/3m-adhesive-remover/189453_0_0 worked pretty good. Used a heat gun to take the badges off and just sprayed this stuff on what was left and it came right off.

 

De-badged.
