You need to remove the whole unit to get led's in.

See above as to why you didn't get it.

I did remove the whole unit. I still couldn't get the bulbs out of their sockets.

Isn’t the middle of the gauge is supposed to light up like it tells you what gear you’re on ?

Curious where you got your climate control faceplate from. I know it's from an 02 4runner but did you get it from junkyard or buy it online somewhere?

Power steering pump, Steering rack, Tie rods, Radiator cap, Thermostat, New radiator, magnets to hold the fuel door closed, new starter drum/cylinder, dash lights changed to red, replaced all carpet in the cab. Not real “mods”, but all work
Took out the greens, replaced with single red LED. Probably would’ve been just fine with a single red bulb, but the res light doesn’t diminish night vision so it’s not too bad :)

I have some extra 4Runner white face HVAC controls if anyone is interested in buying one. I also converted mine to LED as seen below I can convert them before selling as well. Also notice the extra bit the defrost is turned, it allows the defrost to run w/o the A/C compressor running!
I can also perform that mod as well!

I think you are talking about the one on the right (used to be white but it aged with temperature). I believe it is NEO3 size.

    upload_2019-3-19_13-9-48.jpg

The one on the left (grey) is from light switch (I used for rear fog light) is NEO5 and it is to big. Now when I checked my orders from www.superbrightleds.com I saw I bought one of each: NEO3, NEO4 and NEO5. That makes me thinking one of them was not used - but which one :notsure:.

If you are thinking about changing incandescent to LED prepare for some surgery. NEOx LED comes with LED facing up like this:

    upload_2019-3-19_13-21-57.jpg

It is useless because the face of the switch is perpendicular to the bulb (stock bulb shines sideways). The surgery is to dissect the bulb (remove LED, resistor and diode from the base), cut the top of the plastic base and then solder all back together with the LED facing perpendicular to the base and make sure the LED chip is facing to the front of the switch, not back :)

    upload_2019-3-19_13-25-51.jpg

Here is the picture of one before the other after the plastic surgery

    upload_2019-3-19_13-31-38.jpg

dealing with these tiny LED chips is major PITA so have a lot of bear handy.

NEO4 is the A/C cluster bulbs so it makes sense that it could be the NEO3 for hazard

Very possible. I have old style A/C cluster that takes 74 base.

    upload_2019-3-19_13-44-4.jpg

By the way the only bulb you don't need to replace is in A/C switch - it is already LED
