I did red leds in interior. If you have factory stereo (which i did) then you can go in and individually solder the smd leds in the stereo (which i also did)! :D
    4 194 in cluster
    2 74 in ac panel
30ish 1206 smd led in stereo

Clock, no. unless you take it apart and play with colored cellophane (saw this somewhere)

HVAC has an orange tint (01-04) so you would need LEDs that cut through the color. Ones that blend will have a weird color.

02 4runner has virtually the same hvac control face plate, but the paint on the back is white, not orange like ours. so any color SHOULD shine through as the color of the bulb. I swapped Mine for a 4runner version. Had to radius the ends a wee bit, but you'd never notice. Its hard to.get just the plate by itself. I.went to a bunch of toyota junkyard junkyards in Sacramento. Finally some dude sold me one. Works good. I also swapped to blue led in dash, hvac, auto shifter. This pic is off a Sacramento toyota junkyard ad. 4runner listed as an 02 sr5. They are not easy to find, and sometimes not worth the money considering the entire HVAC unit usually comes with it. :(

I did an eBay search this morning after reading this. $99 for the whole unit. No panel-only postings ... But I have to go to the junk yard for other business in the next week or so, so it'll be worth investigating.

I had no problems finding them. Thats not the issue. Issue is they won't split them. You gotta beg, plead, cut off a nut, and so on.

So here's the golden question once again.

I'm going to replace all my bulbs to red. Superbrightleds.com says that their LED replacement bulbs do not dim, yet many here say they bought LEDs from them and say that they do dim.

Can anyone with real experience tell me.

The reason I ask is because I use my dimmer switch to turn down the brightness of the gauge/cluster/climate lights to the bare minimum output of lumens to illuminate everything. I do not like bright lights in my eyes when driving at night.

The dimmest LED bulb superbrightleds.com offers is 5 lumens. What is that comparable to?

And I really like the look of your, WhatThePhuc's, dash. Do you have any input to my concern above?

Mine do dim with the knob. I cannot tell you what the lumens is but they go pretty far down (on a dark night I turn them down too) and then they will shut off completely

LEDs will only dim to a certain point and then they will shut off, but mine dim pretty low before they turn off, I barely keep mine turned up because they're really bright, I can get a video if it helps

Do you guys have the part numbers of the LEDs you bought?

    I'm a 98 so I know I need (4) 194s for the gauge cluster and (2) 74s for the climate control.

I'd just like to know what beam angles and lumen you bought. I know I need 360* for the gauge cluster, just wondering if I need the same for the climate controls.

And Bella - I'd love to see a video when you get a chance.

    Thanks for the replies.

You're a 2000 and have a key ring and glove box light?

Edit: Holy fawk  75 lumens for the gauge cluster lights... That's like having flashlights shine in your eyes. I'm pretty sure the universal disclaimer is not to look into flashlights with 50+ lumens from 10 yards away.

I really like dim dash lights.... I hope your video is representative to real life.

And I appreciate the effort doing this.
