Considering taking my truck back to more of a "stock" setup. Currently running 885's,1-1/2"aal and 255-85-16s. Love the way it looks, but I just don't use it like I thought I would,no time. Also, the power loss with 33's is quite noticeable, which I knew going in. Honestly,I really don't want to pony up the coin to re-gear the truck. The truck is paid for,and it's not my DD. I mostly drive it on the weekends, and the fall during hun capable withting season. I know the truck is fairly capable with 31's, although nothing hardcore the truck went where I wanted it to. Really just thinking out loud and looking for opinions.

I never left stock because it's always done a fine job with everything it came across. Maybe taking things beyond stock makes it easier? I don't know, all I know is most of the 3rd world where trucks are still trucks don't have 4x4 and don't have fancy anything. They do just fine. Admit to yourself that most of the times taking it beyond stock is your own vanity and dare I say it, hobbyist pursuits. Neither of which is wrong. Hobbies are good.

a 265/75/16 tire in P rating or C-Load would look good and get some more power back.
I also noticed the truck runs better on 91 octane. May take the ECU a couple tanks to get used to it.

    back to bone stock.
my truck was barely modded. i lifted it some.

i went back to bone stock when all that rear leaf spring stuff came up. i'm okay with bone stock. it still gets me to my hunt trips, and i have decent mpg doing so. it's all i need.

I’m back to stock, except upgraded bilstein suspension. I’m prepping to sell my truck in a few months. For me, it won’t be worth it to put the suspension back to stock.

Get smaller tires then. 265’s do just fine on a 3” lift.

Wanting to get rid of a lift... I don’t... that does not compute...

I've found building FJ40's that the small lift and tires are the most fun offload. I've built fully locked trucks with big tires and going through everything isn't as fun. Same holds true with any rig. I go mild and winch out when I need to.
