Well I have been running the Bilstein HD's for 5 years now and I really cannot tell a difference in the handling from the stock TRD Bilstein shocks that came on the truck from the factory. I take the truck off road from time to time and the HD's are very responsive and compliment the TRD coil springs.... I'm convinced the TRD Bilsteins are basically HD's only they wrap a Totota sticker on the shock... I could be wrong LOL. I kept the old shocks and plan on sending them in to be rebuilt at a much cheaper price... No, I have not put a lift kit on my truck yet... Money and the economy have put a damper on that.

I got this information from one of the tech guys at Bilstein... Basically came from the horses mouth so to speak...
And it's only the rear 5100's that won't work with a stock 2000 TRD Tacoma. The front 5100's will work just fine.

Well then you needed to be a little clearer, yes you're right about the 5125's in rear they're too long for stock thats why they're for lifted trucks
    Mine was a 2000 also

The Toytec guy is wrong. You CAN run 5100s, you just can't run the ones they sell because they're the improper length. You need to get shocks with the same length of extension and compression as your stock shocks, whether they are 5100, 5125s, 5150s, whatever, it doesn't matter. Find something that is the proper setup for your stock suspension travel and you'll be fine.

My apologies.... I was quick to answer. The 5125's will fit the front of a stock 2000 TRD Tacoma but won't fit the rear which is why I stuck with the standard 5100 HD's. In my opinion the HD's are no different than the stock Toyota TRD Bilsteins that came with the truck... which is good.

Having run HDs for years on my 2000, and now 5100s on my '96 for a couple of years, I would take the HDs over the 5100s all day long.

They are very stiff & you will feel all of the bumps in the road. More soft ride at 80+ MPH.
