We have known hoodlums in the neighborhood. So if it happened when I was sleeping or out of town, yes, yes it would work just fine.

I noticed many here stated using 2 clamps, but using 1 on the driver's side of the tailgate hinge seems unnecessary. On my 2009 tailgate only the passenger's side hinge is partially open to allow it to be removed. I will install a keyed clamp on that side, but I see no reason to use one on the opposite hinge. Am I missing something here?

I stole somebody's tailgate... Unfortunately it was off of a nissan so it wouldn't fit properly on my truck. :( I had to use some tape to hold it on.

    LOL, jk

I try not to park my truck where it could be stolen.

My tailgate was stolen. Fortunately it was recovered a few days later. I was able to pick up from the impound yard almost 3 weeks later!

Mime was stolen right out of my driveway. I now have a power tailgate lock. Awesome!!! I also have a clamp just in case.

Toyota is part to blame for this. If they didn't make such a flimsy tailgate that bent so easily in the first place. There wouldn't be that many stolen.
How about a lock Toyota??? W

I paid 28,000 for my truck. No lock? WTF

Who in the hell has to remove their tailgate anyways? Why quick release?
If there is a need to remove the tailgate, please let me know why...

Lock the monster in the garage at night.
Had my spare tire stolen once, does that count? LOL
Found someone breaking into my jeep once. Grabbed his ass, threw him to the ground and before he could pull his hand out of his pocket I was grabbing his arm for a choke hold. He broke loose, ran, and was tracked down by blood hounds. Still in jail. Found out later he was a wanted felon and he had a box cutter in his pocket. Go figure. Does that count?
