Happy as-is. I dislike bright overhead lighting & prefer the softer yellow light of incandescent for interior. I’d only ever want bright lighting to find something inside, and I have flashlights for that.

I think some folks are confused or don't realize that there are other color LED options that are less harsh than white halogen bulbs at night. The red LEDs are a real treat to light up the interior. Bright white LEDs are blinding and low quality light to me. I would not want those!

I have the red LEDs. If they were not available, I would have left it alone.

I do like the old school look of the stock lens though when the lights are not on. Not asked..but I have stock halogen headlights-those are good enough for me. And MESO LED tails-I just think those look cool.

I am restoring a 74 Bronco and retained all of the stock halogen bulbs. I like the way they glow. So yes..only LEDs I like are the red interior ones (better quality light) and the Meso tails (no real function...just looks cool to me)

I used Diode Dynamics for the interior bulbs and they are great. They are not so bright in your face but are a nice upgrade over the stock lights. I did all the lights, dome and vanity. I also did the rear license plate bulbs and reverse lights too, again a nice improvement over stock. Now I won't go there but I did the LED SL1s for the high and low beam four years ago and they are a major improvement but thats for another day.

The red LEDs do look nice, but I wonder if I’d get “annoyed” at the color after a bit. For a mellow light, you can’t beat the stock incandescents.

One thing I have noticed (since talk of LED brightness is a concern) in the morning (since it's dark when I leave home) when I enter my truck is the subtle brightness of the map/dome light.

I notice the bed lights more so (because they are clear lens) than the interior light covers (because they are not clear lens).

My eyes are getting old, first thing I did was to upgrade the interior lights. I’ll often do a little paper work at the end of the day sitting in the truck. One of the few quiet places I get to myself.

Great for camping too, for when I am digging through my totes.

Never occurred to me to upgrade until I saw my buddy’s van on camp trip, at first we teased him how bright it was, he was like…well I like to see my shit!

    Ahhhhh!

The serenity of sitting in our trucks...almost like a "Fortress of Solitude". lol

I posted a comparison photo (albeit daytime) of the difference between the standard bulb/LED (Post #50).

The lens cover absorbs the brightness at night much better than in that daytime pic.

Like I mentioned, these early mornings M-F when I'm off to work, the brightness of my interior LEDs is comfortable to my eyes.

    Lol! Yes it is!

Never upgraded my old truck, would grab my hiking Petzl headlamp for reading/paperwork. Just never occurred to me, guess it was an old habit rather than actually fixing the problem of low light in the cab.

Now with the days getting shorter, makes even more sense to have bright interior lights…at least for us guys that use it as a cone of silence…

    Love the "Get Smart" reference!

We're a dying breed...I keep reminding staff at my Cath Lab job (3 Labs - Cath/Angioplasty, Peripheral & Electrophysiology). I'm their Materials Clerk and I have to fuss about all the crap they need for cases. lol

I'm 56 and only want to run around after these people for another 18-24 months. I make decent money for what I do which does not include Supervisor Duties.

Well, back to talking about LEDs...I love the improvement over halogen!

    Ha!

Gawd…I am around noise all day at work, plus my wife’s job is super stressful so she likes to vent as soon as I walk in the door, love her to death, but I’ll hang out in the truck for a few minutes before I head in… lol!

I still have stock interior bulbs, mostly because I don't like the super white color temp of LED's.

I bought interior LED's a week after delivery of my truck. I got around to installing them 4 mo later. First impression, I didn't really like them. Decided to give it a week to see if they grew on me. They did. I see them now as a good upgrade.

I assume they all pull power off the same rail. Why there's a surge when something turns off is beyond my electrical knowledge haha!

This may sound CRAZY but I replaced my interior lights with LED's and the "Touch to Lock" door handle quit working while they were on. Searching the Forum I found a suggestion that it was the LED bulbs causing the problem ........ HE WAS RIGHT ...... replaced the front Map Light bulbs with the factory bulbs and the Touch to Lock door handle works fine. 2019 Tacoma 4X4 Off Road auto trans

I have a 2021 Sport...the electrical gremlins are not present in mine...the touch lock works as advertised with my interior LEDs.
