I got mine in the mail before I found this thread, so now I'm hesitant to install it.

If I knew then what I know now, I definitely would have returned this shit uptake snorkel. You should ask them for the airflow data before you decide to install.

If anyone is wondering if the Safari snorkel will cover the hole from this shit uptake snorkel it mostly does, but not completely. There's also 1 fastener point that you can't use on the safari because it's right in the middle of that hole. I ended up using a sticker to cover that open section. The safari snorkel definitely was designed properly. I'm getting equivalent airflow to the stock intake.

bernoulli only applies to irrational and inviscid flow. Increasing the pipe diameter reduces viscous losses. It will allow for more air flow.

That graph is a 2nd gear WOT pull I did on the street. Of all the runs (on the street) I’ve done so far with the safari snorkel the highest number I’ve seen is 318 g/sec. If I remember correctly I think the highest I’ve seen with the stock intake was 315 g/sec. This is with the 87mm pulley on the supercharger.

The "Ram air intake" effect that everyone brings up is vastly overstated. You just can't go fast enough for it to matter.

It sounds like people are getting refunds now if they want. When I notified them of the problem they basically didn’t believe me so refund wasn’t an option at the time. Since then I started cutting up this shit snorkel trying to increase airflow because I wanted to at the very least get the intake out from under the fender. Unfortunately no matter how much I cut it didn’t match the stock intake airflow. It got close, but not equivalent. Anyhow, I don’t really have a whole product to return so I haven’t inquired about a refund.

My son showed me the uptop instagram today. They must be reading this because now they have been referring to someone as an engineer for their next product. Sounds like we need to see a college degree from this guy or they just keep digging the hole deeper with lies. Anyone know who this engineer guy is or his qualifications?

For those not on Instagram, this is that post and also the introduction of their Ute bed.

There is no way you could convince me to trust any new product from this company after the data from the snorkel.

Who knows if this bed would hold up in accident, zero real data again, and a bunch of lies of how they tested it.

Same here I opened it up and wasn’t really thrilled about the quality of it.

So against the advice in this thread, i installed the uptop snorkel and its pretty bad. Lost nearly 3 mpg and really struggles in acceleration and power. I have kdmax pro xtra torque tune and with uptop snorkel its worse than stock ecu/engine. I emailed uptop and mailed back the snorkel for full refund minus $50 shipping. Installed ARB snorkel which does not cover the hole made for the uptop snorkel as sk808 said but i put a piece of door edge trim around it and it covers it pretty well.

Notice restored performance with the ARB?

Absolutely, felt like it was "spooling up" before with uptop snorkel because it was suffocating.
