Posting an update since I inquired about it recently. I am told that they are redesigning the down tube and internal fender tube to increase air flow by 39%. Personally, it would be nice to have a fully functional snorkel instead of my home made mods. I for one can wait for the upgrade and don't care to comment further. I've done my part to help everyone out. ps. if you think it's a lot of money then you probably shouldn't be shopping for it! just saying. lol
Also, sk808 has been on this since the beginning. he's not posting opinions based on someone else's talk. whatever your situation, the SC folks like us are suffering from self inflicted air intake clogs.

    pinstripes. lots of pinstripes.
I wonder if airflow is increased by 39% or they've just gone up to the next size larger tube and it's 39% larger cross-sectional area or diameter. I'm betting on the latter.

They would have to increase the down tube diameter as well as the fender tube to get those kind of gains. Unless there is an electric leaf blower built in! hahahaha

And please don't tell me it's science....so many people use that term incorrectly because....well.....they're neither scientists or engineers!

Thanks to those of you who took the time to lay this out and save the rest of us. It's curious how white knights come in to defend a company that won't even offer a real explanation.

How do they know or we know it's a 39% improvement when we do not even have the baseline measurements? Does this mean they are going to refund everybody who bought one?

I am sure as hell wondering why they have not responded on here for weeks when Virginadave brought it up months ago.

I'm still out $160 for a bogus restocking fee on a NIB snorkel, returned, for an inherent design flaw in the product. All to receive a good bit of shade when returning it, saying my concerns were not valid. Well we sure know better now.

This isn't the first time I've been confounded by the lack of engineering taking place at UpTOP. One time I rolled up and asked if they were all running aftermarket tunes since they were all rockin larger tires. The response was "we don't really get into that sort of thing". Another time I asked if they would consider making extended front fairings for their roof racks, to help reduce wind noise and drag as most people mount big blunt things right at the front of their roof racks (like bins and such). Their response was "I doubt it would make any difference".

Apparently there is an appetite born of ignorance for ruining the performance of vehicles they own, operate, and design products for.

Larger tires with no aftermarket tune.
No extended wind fairings for an improved drag coefficient.
And a Snorkel, that will cut the air flow rate to your stock engine by double digit percentage points.

It's been over 2 months since I pointed out the likely design flaw and about as long since I returned my snorkel. Any word from UpTOP on doing the right thing here? Don't hold your breath people, I doubt it would make any difference.

I do like my roof rack and truss setup, those work great as intended.

Pretty sure most buyers care about quality and not ig clout status. Same as me. I don't truck gram. Just want a functioning product. I liked it, bought it, want it backed up. Their popularity means jack all to me and has no real importance to the thread.

I didn't buy the snorkel. Although the customer service with this product will reflect future purchases and how I feel about keeping my roofrack.

Also, peeing sitting down is more sanitary and efficient.

Not sure when they put that up, but definitely recent. I’m pretty sure this shit snorkel doesn’t have sufficient airflow for NA engines either. That’s why they still haven’t released any airflow data, not even for the NA engine.

Uptop could reply to this thread but went rogue once we started pointing out the real data. If they had any integrity they would have recalled the snorkel after the amount of data we have showing it is faulty.

Idk if anyone saw their recent Instagram post. I thought it was pretty comical; pretty much bashed other roof rack competitors and bragging about NOT using fancy equipment to build their racks. Led me straight back to here thinking about how they'd never make that same post about their snorkels. I think any amount of respect some people still gave them for their racks and other products, they threw it out the window for a lot of people.

I'm over there in the roof rack thread having quality issues as well. Had this one for only a few months and it's cracking. It is my first rack and I'm not an expert by any means but that doesn't seem like normal wear to me. Also not the only person having the issue.
