Decided to go online and check my trucks service history. Found this:

    SSC 30H 2001-MID 2003 TACOMA DOUBLE CAB-INSTALL FUEL HOSE PROTECTOR, 50J BALL JOINT,CK/ADJ WHL

50J Ball Joint was the recall correct? This was done at 60k. My truck now has 150k. I jacked up the truck a few months ago and placed a pry bar between the arms to see if there was any movement around the LBJ, didn't see any or feel any movement. Should I just go ahead and replace the LBJ anyways?

if there's no movement leave it alone. looks like yours was replaced with the better ones back in the day so should be good with only 90k on it.

I'm in the middle of replacing mine. 185k miles on a 1999. Was doing suspension but decided to do ball joints, tie rods, everything. Went with the OEM ball joints and tie rod outers, and Moog for the tie rod inners (because they were way less than the OEM's). My LBJ's were seemingly fine (no torn boots, no movement, etc), but figured I'd replace them since I was doing all of the other work.

A member here cut up a couple different ball joints to show us the quality of the parts. I was already convinced on buying Toyota ball joints but his informative post reinforced that idea. For other stuff like outer and inner tie rods , bushings ,etc I will prob go aftermarket tho.
