I have a 1999 Tacoma 2 door with 272,000 + miles = really a great little truck. Hoping to keep it for a very long time. I do have one regret the bench seat. Really hard to find a split bench or single seats for this truck.

I adjusted linkage on an '87 4x4 for a friend last month- I looked at the ODO, 700,000 plus. Rust free, no smoke, decent power, no BS, runs pretty good. He still commutes to work, and takes it into the dez to hunt, never breaks down. I'll be happy if my '06 goes half that distance.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Seems like the 5 luggers last the longest from what I've seen, they have way less parts to wear out like the 4WD's have. A guy posted on the TW facebook page a few months back that a 1996 5 lug with a 3.4 V6 came into his shop to be serviced with something like 660k on the odometer! And that V6 was actually a factory option from 1995-1997 so it was all original miles and engine.

My 04 on the other hand only has 86k on the odo, she's a baby yet.

I agree on not doing 3k intervals. Waste of money and resources if you ask me. I also use non synthetic oil whatever is on sale. 212,000 miles so far and drove it across the country several times up and down the rockies. change it every 5,000 miles. Synthetic is good for longer intervals or high performance applications. I hardly ever tow and drive a 4-banger. It's more important to change it at proper intervals that what type of oil you have in there, as long as you used the proper weight that the manual says to use. I use synthetic in my wife's subaru outback and go 8,000 mile intervals and for better cold wx starting. If you do 3k or 5 or 6k intervals non-syn will get the job done.

My 97 Tacoma has 839,000 miles. Still use it but it's not my primary vehicle. It has original motor and transmission.
