    I meant $30K

4x4 Sport DCLB with Tow in Canada is $42 000 , and our dollar is worth a penny more than yours .

but hey.. it wasn't when you bought it.

Curious if that was the slightly weaker dollar .. it was only a nickel lower in 2009. Or is it import tariffs trying to protect canadian auto manufacturers?
Just a higher cost of doing business? Import tax? Where's the disparity, pre calculated tax? In hawaii we have a VAT. BUT.. its charged at each transaction. So if you go through 3 wholesalers and distributors before you retail, you're adding 4% at each step. But its only 4 %. Negligible property tax, negligible income tax. Fairly stiff car tax and a new car "import" tax. But only to private parties (can't easily buy a car on mainland and ship it here to save money).

You're better off NOT to pay it off, keep the loan as long as you can, pay just the minimun amount.
The future economic collapse is coming where the dollar will be worthless, the only thing the government can do is re-boot the economy, start over with "0", keep what you own, and start over again with nothing, no money, but you also keep and own what you own, your home, your truck, the food in your kitchen.
If you owe a lot of money on your truck, you'll be making out, you'll be ahead, you have an expensive late model truck with value, you can trade and barter for it, you can trade your truck for food and ammo.
Remember Hurricane Katrina? beer was being used as money, with cases of beer you can barter for a place to live, for a new car.
stock up on beer and food and ammo, use the money you have now to buy these things cause soon money will be worthless, food, beer, and ammo will be the new money.
I know you guys think i'm crazy, but learn a lesson from history, history always repeats itself!

And then when you trade it in, you are upside down on your value to debt, and have to roll the cost of the old loan into the cost of a new loan.

Another reason why debt is bad. Very few things financed (home improvements, cars - for example) that are financed actually appreciate in value.....or remain at least with the cost of inflation.

Absolutely ridiculous that you can finance a car for more than 5 years. If you are doing so, you need a used, or less expensive vehicle.

If it does your truck will be worthless because there won't be any fuel. The only thing of value will be canned food. No one will want a vehicle for precious soup. :D

Anyway Which history is that? Only someone hopelessly in debt would believe that because their personal world is crumbling and they are projecting it on the world at large. Not sure whether you are paying attention or not But the market has doubled, Most businesses (and Americans) are doing very well. Auto sales are up...90% of America is employed. 85% fully. Foreclosures are dropping. Next up will be plenty of employment opportunities for educated skilled workers. Now there WILL be a shortage of them because schools today are not putting out educated people and some youth do not care about getting an education. They would rather live in their parent's basements, work at Mc Donalds and make a $500 truck payment. Because after all...the world is ending.

I heard this a lot in life... "Fuck it may as well get what I want. I could die tomorrow" Problem is people act on that notion,,,then live for 84 more months grinding out their payments hoping the sky will fall.

I remember the doom and gloom predictions during the 70's. The US won't become a Katrina anytime soon. Besides the vast majority of people who are doing well won;t allow the Government to reboot. HENCE the walloping of the big spenders last November election in favor of those of those who favor spending cuts in Government and the sudden move to the center of the President who is not exactly coming out in favor of those protesters in Wisconsin. In fact he supported the people of Egypt far more than those angry government workers with cushy pensions and medical benefits in Wisconsin..;)

That cost was all taxes in , and at the time the Canadian dollar was at about .85 cents US , I don't like to think about that .

Most of the disparity is just straight up overpricing . I went online and built my truck as a 2011 , and the cost before taxes is 37 K .

Try it yourself , go to Toyotabc.ca , and build and price a truck , use BC as your province of purchase .

Better than being unemployed and having debt that you cannot pay. Best wishes with remaining debt free, and improving your employment status. You could always turn to male prostitution. :p
