Paid off everything....Home, cars, bikes.......Utilities and insurance paid off when due.Utilities are sent $200 a month regardless of Bill. I balance at the end of the year. Cash and carry and I'm not high paid executive, professional, or Union worker. A regular Joe who learned young I would rather collect than pay interest and figured out how to do that and reaped the benifits and got a good girl too!! Mature babes like security.

When you save at every turn and begin collecting interest rather than perpetually paying interest you can do this before you are 40 years old too. But you have to sacrifice when you are young and stupid. Few do because they have the attitude " Might die tomorrow so what the hell" only they never do then live in hell with bills and job losses magnify the bills. OF course I bought my first (and and last) new car well into my 40's. Biggest waste of money I ever spent.

The best part? What recession? Been working part time since the fulltime job went away in 2007...and the only problems is saving less. Moving and Living in a part of the country where you are not taxed to death helps.

Paid cash for mine, had been saving up and felt it was a great way to spend!...But that was, of course, before I started adding mods to it..as far as I can see, there is'nt any end in sight!

I owe $20k on mine and have the cash in the bank to pay it off if wanted. But, at 2.9% interest, I'd rather use TFS's money instead of mine. I'll use mine for investments that generate a greater return.

I dont pay cash for cars, its a terrible investment. A car loan is about 3% ish. Any dumbass with half a brain can make at least double that by investing the money that would have been spent paying cash for the car. Soi put it into real estate and borrow the $ if the ratesmake sense. Actually make a profit by the time the car is paid off. Takes a lot of self controll though something I haven't always had.
