THAT is how your credit is lower than it should be. You gotta borrow to show that you can pay it back on time. The credit system is dumb, complete catch 22 but that's how it is.

Paid mine off in May of 2012 then bought an engagement ring the week after:rolleyes: Yay more payments for two more months. And at least this time it was interest free.

The day I picked up my truck the finance guy at the dealership told me I have a 2 year loan. ok I said... drove off and went on paying off my loan for over a year. One month I was gonna be a little late with the payment and I called the bank to see if I could find a local branch cause I wasn't at home and they got my details about the loan and told me that I wouldn't be late at all cause I was 2 years ahead on payments..Ha I said. 5/3 Bank said it was a 4 year loan. oh well got it paid off this past december and its all mine:).

Paid by personal check Nov 2006 for my 2007 Taco. Drove a 1986 beat up 2-door std 2WD Nissan Hardbody (paid $500) for two years to save up $$ as I did not want a payment. Good little truck but no AC, no PS, and no electric windows. But, $99/yr car insurance and easy maintenance; it saved me lots of $$.

    To come.
If you don't need credit, don't use it. Just make sure a credit check every year comes out clean (nobody stealing your name) and you're good to go. The system is there to feed itself. So, if you have been able to go ABOVE the system and pay cash for everything, hooray for you. I'm looking forward to getting to that point and simply ignoring credit scores. I know most won't agree, but that is true freedom right there (so long as you have a nice savings safety net).

True freedom until an emergency strikes. In my younger years (20's to mid-40's) I used credit but never carried over a charge from month to month...just paid the bill every month. After I retired from the Navy I had to buy a house and had no problem getting a loan...thanks to my credit record. Now everything is paid off, I have a Tacoma and a Venza I paid cash for, but I still charge EVERY daily expense and pay EVERY recurring bill (electric, telephone, DirectTV, etc) with a credit card that builds points...and I pay it in full every month. My credit rating is excellent and if I ever NEED an emergency influx of cash I can get it.

Sent my first check towards paying extra to the bank today. Hopefully I can do this 18 more times and it can be all mine 3 1/2 years early. Not doing any mods till I pay it off.
