I'm certain the bank will not let you off the hook.
one consequence is they can make your credit score go down, and you will find it hard to get another loan, or even rent an apartment, etc.

Add me to the list. Been paid off since 2012. I believe it had around 50,000 miles. Lots of road trips. :) Only good thing I got from the divorce, besides my youngin!

The thing that sucks about that is that you know the cost of the financing is built in to the price of the truck. That's why they offered 0%, because you were already paying for it.

Financing a vehicle is a good thing if the interest is low. It establishes credit history. Some lenders like to see a history of blemish free payments. Paying cash doesn't help your credit as much. I could have payed off real early(1 yr), but instead I put the extra money into bank and collected interest. Ended up putting 10,000 down on my first house. Now that's what you want to sock your extra money towards!! Now I have 2 houses. Not paid off yet though. 10 more yrs. Hope my truck makes it that long.

I don't, and frankly with money being as cheap as it is, there is NO reason to pay it off - I make far more than 1.49% on the money which is my rate. - But I certainly would not discourage anyone from paying off debt, but from a financial perspective it's not necessarily the best thing to put your money into (zeroing car debt I mean)
