Fixing is not modifying. Fixing is fixing. Reserved for moments when things stop working - not when the truck needs to be lifted for the sake of lifting it. The credit card comes out for these moments so I can get to work. Now, how people choose to pay off/down/ignore their credit card balance is their personal choice. Since you have mistaken my original quote and insinuated that I do have poor financial practices, I want to assure you that my financial practices are very sound. I appreciate your concern.

Emergency funds are good for untimely repairs. Credit cards are not emergency funds.

It builds credit. You have to get loans at some point. I agree, cash is best stay outta debt, but no credit history will screw you in the end!!!! When I waS 17 I got a credit card. Paid EVERYTHING with it, paid it off every month. When I was 19, I saved enough to buy a brand newJeep, credit score good enough to get a loan. I traded in my 4Runner, got a few thousand for it financed the rest. Went to the bank made all 59 payments, left one payment left. A year later, went to the bank, made last payment, picked up title. Picked up credit score an amazing amount!

If you have cash, still buy on credit, pay off early!

My Tacoma, I was much older, alot of bills, put about 30% -40% down, made the small payments, Plus a little extra, still paid it off ahead of schedule.

Some people don't have emergency cash under the mattress man. CC's are emergency funds sometimes.

Sold my first house last month and made a cool 6 figure profit. Paid off the wifes 2012 Tacoma and got me a new fun daily driver and retired my 300k mile 4runner to offroad only. It does feel good to have the truck paid off. I put a lot down on the Caddy but did get a small loan. 2004 CTS-V, 400hp, 6 speed manual.

She had a police interceptor crown Victoria when I met her many years ago. She had an 80s Toyota pickup in high school. The after the vic she got a ford expedition. Her dream truck then became a 4 door Tacoma and we finally got her one. Once the truck got paid off she said I could get a car but needs to be a family car. In my budget the caddy was the best option for family, luxury, and still fun to drive.

Lol. I know. And she let me build a 400whp AWD Eagle Talon when we first had a kid. I had like $10k in that car. Bless her heart.

You should always have an emergency fund. There are no excuses not to have one.

Credit Cards are not emergency funds.

Agree. If A CC is the emergency fund, that means the plan includes paycheck to paycheck living. If something breaks you charge it. Then your living beyond your means paying off that card. if That were me, I shouldn’t even own such a truck.

My 2006 is long in the tooth now. I’ve been bought that thing for cash in 08. I’m saving now for the next truck. It’s unpleasant, but the only way.

Lol! So true! If you add EVERYTHING up, including the $23,100 I paid for the truck brand new, break it down to monthly payments... I've been paying like$500- $600 a month for 12 years, lol!

    2018...
    Maxtrac about $650
    Rancho 9000'S about $600
    Dobinson's about $500
    Anarchy's and Amp's $2,400

Doing all the work myself :)

Well maybe so... But what about sudden medical bills... Or in my case, my baby sister wanted a dream wedding and couldn't afford it all... I haven't carried a CC balance in like 20 years, I only had about $10,000 In unplanned, ready cash I could give her, had to put about $5,000 on credit card. I have kept my normal retirement plan in place, but since November 2017 I have been paying off the CC. Have $400 left.

You remember those master card 'PRICELESS' commercials...

See my baby girl have her fairytale wedding come true....

    Priceless! :)
