Is this the noise you're experiencing? This is taken while driving in my truck. Sounds like crap.

if you jam some toothpicks between where speaker grill meets the "A" pillar on the right side, that should get rid of your noise. its due to not enough gap and the plastic is rubbing and creating a squeak sound. louder when its colder since the plastics are harder.

yup, that's the exact sound I have but thankfully it's not as bad as yours or I'd probably drive it off a bridge.

Were you able to remedy yours? It's annoying as all hell, and quite frankly taking it to the dealer anymore is not really worth it to me.

Haven't messed with it yet since it's generally only on a bumpy road or when turning. I can easily replicate mine by just pushing on the dash so maybe I'll try the toothpick trick to see if it does anything. Toothpicks to stop a creak on an almost $40k truck...

I hear ya on that. I would rather avoid the toothpick thing but if that's what's make it stop for the mean time I would be happy.

its a temp solution right now. haven't had time to take it back for another round of evals by the dealer.

they recently removed and re-installed a new paint protection film since the original was put on so sloppy.

Toyota paid to have it re-applied.

I guess if the fit and finish wasn't so tight this wouldn't be an issue with the squeaks.

and trust me, the fit and finish gaps on my 14 4runner is so tight, I have a concern that the plastic rubs when it meets the sheet metal in the rear.

Guys, I hate to dredge up a semi-date thread but I've tried all the fixes listed in a few threads to no avail. Does anyone have any other suggestions other than the toothpicks, silicone in the weatherstripping, removing the shelf in the glovebox for a fix? It may sound silly but I get the rattle more frequently when taking a longer, sweeping left hand turn in which my bodyweight is shifting to the right side of my seat. Call me crazy, but that's what I'm going to be if I don't find the source of this rattle. THANKS for any and all help!

So I had the rattle problem as well. Same sound as @Haikin posted in his video.

Mostly over bumpy roads which is everywhere in Hawaii. I removed everything from the glove box and it still rattled although slightly less. I removed the shelf and the cover to the cabin air filter and the noise stopped.

The rattle issue in my truck was plastic on plastic between the shelf and cabin air filter cover. with any added weight on the shelf the noise appeared louder.

My temporary fix until I can get some felt tape was to put 100 mph tape (duct tape) on flat surfaces with potential plastic on plastic rubbing. It's not pretty but once installed you can't see the tape. This did two things; stopped plastic on plastic rubbing and allowed for a tighter fit of the shelf and cover.

So I had the annoying rattle noise on the passenger side. Thanks to the forum, it turned out to be the A pillar and speaker issue.

But! Once I fixed that, I noticed I had another rattle/buzz/squeak. Been trying to figure this one out for a while now. Tried the shelf remove/tape options, removed the cover for the access to the cabin air filter. Tried making the glove box close tighter. All sorts of experiments.

Today, I think I finally figured it out. Underneath the glove box is a bundle of wires wrapped in plastic. It is jammed up against what I guess is the blower for the heat/cooling. So today I put a microfibre towel in between the two. Drove around for a while on every type of road, gravel, highway, bumpy roads. No noise issues. So hopefully I fixed it!

that's where my noise came from too. I shoved some foam up there like your cloth and it worked!

Very informative thread. I will share these solutions with the dealer since they've tried to fix the same rattle three times so far. After their last attempt it was ok for my four mile trip home but now it's back and louder than before. It can even be heard over the radio.....cool huh :rofl:

Just like when I realized most of my rattle was my garage door opener...

The only rattle I have is a slight creaking at the driver dash. It's just the plastic rubbing together I think and doesn't do it until you hit a bump, albeit a small bump. Doesn't really
    bother me

I will have to look into this.. I feel like I've heard it intermittently but unable to take the time to identify the location...

I have taken mine to the dealer 3 times now for this rattle. They wouldn't even accept my truck until they drove it around themselves to "verify" the noise. It is completely annoying. They have put felt all over the speaker cover and the noise always comes back the following day.

I am now driving around without the speaker cover (still have the noise) trying to diagnose.

Mine also started the noise on the passenger side of the dash. I put my hand on the tray in the glovebox but that isn't it. I'll try to get one of my Toyota techs look at it tomorrow when I go in. At 1700 miles and a brand new truck I'm not going to let it slide!

The noise is coming from the weatherstripping inside your a pillar. Remove the 10mm bolt and resituate the foam piece to its original position. Also fix visible wear spots from rubbing. Pretty sure there is a tread on this already, the noise was driving me insane.
