I trained two agency`s LE SWAT teams and dive units.
I spent some time in MAAG and trained officers and SNCO`s.

As stated above, some have free trials. The one I joined had 5 free lessons. There are a couple of schools that try to sign you up with a one-year contract. You should probably avoid those as you don't want to be stuck paying if you don't like it or they suck. Also avoid any school that tries to guarantee a belt by a certain time. You would also probably want a school that allows at least light contact when sparring. I've seen one school out here that allowed no contact. People rarely got hurt, but they would tend to fold in a fight as they're not used to being hit or knowing how hard to actually hit an attacker.

Highest I received was a blue belt in American Kenpo back in the 1980s. It took me about three years. I always wanted to go back but just don't have the time anymore.

I understand the not having time ordeal. I love the martial arts but time is pressing and when I do go I normally go at it a little too hard and end up sore or injured.

I learned a combat modified hapkido for work. I studied a bit of Akido. I took Capoeria for about 6 months. I also subscribe to the kikyoaso school (Just say it real fast).

Capeoria was the most fun-but the hardest to go from training to fighting. I prefer to walk into a fight with an expandable baton and a lot of yelling....That's just me tho.

Thanks for the invite to your dojo or dojang. It is too late for me. Too much combat. I wear a gun now; or three.
I did enjoy combatives. The old bod can`t take it anymore.
