Ok sorry we all got a little nuts there. I genuinely wasn’t trying to be a dick, I just hate when people are taken advantage of, especially with leases if they don’t know how it works. So back to lease talk haha.

I am currently leasing my TRD OR 4x4 DCSB, I pay 340/mo on a 36yr/12k lease with zero down.

Okay that makes more sense, sorry for sounding like an Ahole earlier was just trying to make sense of it, was going to ask if you regret going 4x2 but just noticed you're in florida so you probably wouldn't use 4x4 much right?

No my 2nd gen was a short bed too, I like the looks of the short beds better. I can still haul drywall, plywood, 2x4s, and whatever I need.

It's amazing in my area they advertise lease for $149 a month blah blah blah, then when someone goes in that's with 10 million down, 0 down and your at $600 a month, that's not what the commercial said .

I’m assuming it’s absolutely fully loaded? Silly question but I haven’t seen an off-road around here for that much.

Gotcha, I was on the fence between SB/LB and went with the ACLB but still like the look of the DCSB truthfully.

I would have to agree. A local dealership advertised a 2018(I think) DCSB SR5 4x4 for 269-289 a month but the fine print said with $4,500 down. I think that was also only 10k miles a year.

People don’t realize they can negotiate a lease just like a purchase. You still negotiate the price of the truck. In my situation I didn’t even tell the dealer I wanted to lease until we got to the price I wanted to be at, and then they even still tried to screw around with the money factor and tell me I needed to put 2-4K down to get anywhere near the number I wanted. Tacoma’s can lease very well because of the high residual, SR5 is a mid 250 lease, sports are high 200s and OffRoad’s are mid to low 300s all 0 down. Anyone who pays more is overpaying.

I got boned then, haha. I used to work at an Acura dealership. It was funny because when I first negotiated for my Tacoma, it was around $422 with 0 down, $362 with 2k and 302 with 4K. for a 2019 Toyota Tacoma SR ACLB msrp of $33,500. Needless to say by the end of the day I was down to $308. I called their bluff and they essentially owned up to it. I was trading in a leased 2017 Subaru WRX with only 4,500-5,000 miles at the 27 month mark of a 36 month lease. Buyout was 21,something they gave me 22,700. They tried rolling neg equity into my new lease at first when I told them I had positive equity in my Subaru. They haggled until I put my foot down and with (positive equity from Subaru low 1,something) I was down to 308. I’m sure I got ripped, but I felt like I got a good deal so I signed, I had a guy who only worked there for a week and was bending over backwards to get the deal as his first official sale. I had the truck delivered and paperwork done at my house with accessories(Bed mat, all weather floor mats, door sill protectors). The all weather floor mats weren’t there so he delivered them the next day. Really nice guy actually, but it’s customer service that wins me over.

It’s not a terrible deal, hopefully that was 308 a month with nothing down. Was this a 3yr/12k lease?

3 year 12k lease. First truck ever, so the next round I will be more experience in negotiating especially with all the help here. I usually drive way under mileage so hoping to get into in off-road or Pro with only my positive equity down for a decent price after the 3 years are up.

I wanted leather interior because its easier to clean, and I like the heated seats, and the keyless entry as well. When I was looking at new trucks I liked the cement color the most, and the dealer had 2 of them at the time. One was a sport model with the leather upgrade, and one was the limited. The sport had the longer bed, and I didn't really want a longer truck, so that pretty much made my decision. If the sport was a short bed I would have had a tough time deciding.

The only problem is in my area an off road can go between 32,000 and up into 40,000 depending on options so that extra 8 grand between the 2 off road models will raise your monthly payment. Theres no way your getting the 40,00 off road for the same monthly lease as the 32,000 of road. Also sports and off roads are allmost the same price so why would a sport lease at high 200s but an off road low 300s, why different monthly payments if off roads and sports are same price?

It’s all good! And yeah, i would probably use the 4x4 maybe once the whole time I own it. I had a 2001 Tundra SR5 4x4 for 10 years prior to the Dart and the only time I used it was when I engaged it once a month to make sure it’s working. Lol

I get ya man and it’s all good! I have to have more than 12k a year. I drive a lot to and from work and after the math, I would put on 11k a year just to and from. No breathing room to go anywhere else.

I’m talking about base for each model, obviously if you go with a premium package or tech package it will add to the monthly. Region doesn’t matter you can have a truck delivered from somewhere else if they won’t haggle, or drive/fly and pick one up. I almost went to Philadelphia (6hours away) because my dealers didn’t want to work with me. The residuals right now are crazy on 3 year leases for the Tacoma’s, off-road was 75% in my region. Don’t rush and take your time, if you are reasonable you can get a good lease payment.

My problem was my negative equity. I tried to negotiate the price but they wouldn’t budge but they gave me 1k on the Dart. I was 5k upside down and it ended up being 4K. I got screwed but that’s my fault! Lol. So what happened was after the trade crap, my payment was going to be 320/mo with 0 down for lease or 550/mo with 0 down if I financed it. So financing it was a no go cause wife would have put a spork in my eye. I had to add more mileage so that bumped it up to 340/mo. Ok, I still had room to play with. My Dart payment was 440/mo at 14% interest (don’t ask) and wife said to do what I had to to get positive but don’t go above 440/mo or I’d be sleeping in it! But since, we have upped our credit score into the 700’s from low 6’s.

I could have left it there. But I wanted to get in the positive. I haggled with them for over an hour to let me up my payments from 340 to 440 so the extra would go towards principle. First they said no. If I pay extra, it just knocks my payment down each month till I reach 0. I said, well, I’ll wait then. The guy said hold on....he came back periodically to see if I was still there...then eventually they said they would extend the lease to 4yr 15k at 469/mo with 129/mo going towards principle. Like I said before, my premise was to buy it. I guess they really wanted to sell the truck! Anywho, after all said and done, I’ll have great positive equity wether I buy it or trade it. I achieved my goal. Yeah, it’s costing me 29 more a month than the Dart but I’m into a truck and will be to the positive. I still didn’t get laid that night .....
