What is it about the Kenwood MP345U iPod interface that "sucks ass?" I'm about to buy the Kenwood unit, but one of the main reasons I'm upgrading from factory is to get the iPod connection.

I can't see paying $150 for a SPEC-USA PA12-TOY when I can get a better total unit for less money. Either way, the panel has to come off.

    What am I missing here?

    Stock for now
yeah I have the same unit & the screen is small but the cost of the unit and sound over stock was well worth it. I just use my playlists & call it a day.
I agree with you too, it does sound awesome
So much better over stock & wish I had done this mod sooner...best $109 spent.

Look for the coupon codes on line and save $20 on crutchfield.

Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the coupon tip. I wouldn't have thought of that. Hey....20 bucks is 20 bucks!

I've placed the order and am now waiting to get the unit. Hopefully, the installation will go smoothly. Thanks again.

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
"No way it's not" Solder is the only way you should wire a head unit. Not to sound like a dick or anything but crimp or but connectors is the BEST BUY way of doing it. if you go to any well just about any car audio store that just deals in car audio they will solder all the connections.

I'm glad the OP did it right the first time it's not hard and it's cheaper if you already have a soldering iron.

I installed speakers and a kenwood 545u in my 1st gen on monday!!! I had one question that weren't specified in the wiring instructions and they answered them with flawless hesitation. Their directions are awesome it's like they were in the passenger seat helping me out the whole time.
