I know there are a lotof people who want to wait for "kinks to get worked out" and don't buy 1st year of a new gen, but curious how many people are jumping in vs waiting?

Nothing wrong with buying the first year of a new generation (coming from a guy who bought a 2016), just expect to make a few extra trips to the dealer to address TSBs. I had about 5 TSBs that needed addressing the first year but now my Tacoma has been great. Turbo and Hybrid might require more than 5 trips. Just expect first year TSBs and you won't be surprised.

On the 5 year plan, have 3 more to go. So plenty of time to watch how it pans out.

I’ll be a beta tester looking at maybe around February or March. See if any issues arise in the coming months.

2027 or 2028 model year for the Solid State battery Toyota (maybe not Tacoma) pickup. And I'll be passing you suckers in your iForce MAX putt putt dino fuel mobile while I get 600 miles a charge and refuel in under 10 minutes while towing a 24 foot boat uphill.

You just had to take the discussion to the EV gutter.

I am sure by then the gas heads will be dying for the last fossil fuel vehicles and will bend over backwards to buy it from me :D

Really should obey the traffic laws. Always find it ironic seeing a Tesla zipping in and out of traffic at break neck speeds. Guess the smug “I am doing my part to save the planet” types, the laws don’t apply to them. :p

My GTI was one of the first MK7's out back at the end of 2014 for the 2015 model year. Definitely not afraid of a Tacoma first iteration of a new generation... was hoping to have it before Christmas, we'll see how that plays out. ;)

I never really understood the 'don't buy the first year!' stuff. Like someone else said in here, couple more trips to the dealer for TSP or recalls, so what? Life's too short.

That said I will be waiting(lol). Not because I want to but because I would rather put my extra money into my 2016 instead of dealing with a stock truck for a bit if I were to fork out for a 24.

I bought a first year honda, and I'll have no issue buying a first year tacoma. Even after reading some of the horror stories about the new Tundra.

I’ll ride out my 2012 as long as possible and buy a 4th Gen near the middle to end of its run.

It was about five years to get all the bugs out and get the 3rd gen config right. Hopefully the 4th gen is perfect from day one.

What was wrong with 2020 Tacomas that finally got fixed in ‘21?

I’ve had a couple VWs. This guy has seen some shit.

I’m not rushing into a financial decision just for a sparkly new thing. I’ll be looking at a 25-26 MY unless someone drives into my ‘21 before then or Toyota announces the end of manual production before then. My oldest kid is 10. My plan is to wait 2 more years and time out paying my next truck off with him turning 17.

Still waiting for the 04 to die... :D. I may have a while. Either I take the wife's 21' 4Runner (likely b/c...manual T case) and get her a new whatever year that ends up being 4Runner. Or I get a truck. I really dislike the IMAX screen on the dash though, I'd be really interested if one could rip it out for something less gaudy like a regular radio, and still have the truck function.
