I'm waiting to boost my 3.5. Would be nice if there was some sort of update on availability.

The new 2TR-FE also have higher compression (in addition to dual vvti).

    That makes forced induction harder.

It would be cool to see a turbo 3rd gen regardless of engine choice. I am really disappointed in the lack of mods and builds on these 3rd gen trucks... Small lift and tires are not enough. Not even one straight axle 3rd gen at sema just a few with mild bolt on parts...Youtube has no videos of these 3rd gen trucks doing real offroading... Are they not as capable compared to old tacos or what or are a different crowd buying these trucks nowadays?

    We need more aftermarket.

This whole similarity and same block as 3rz has me thinking. I compared the intake manifolds and the gaskets and the bolt patterns where they go on the head look the same. TRD makes a roots supercharger for the 3rz which costs 1/2 of the URD kit, plus the pulley is in about the same position as the power steering on the 2trfe. Can that guy be bolted on the 2trfe and driven with the serpentine instead of power steering?

Cool, maybe he will chime in. The only other obstacle I see is reclocking the throttle body or making my own airbox to TB piping - both no big deal

There are subtle differences in the bolt pattern, as well as I believe the timing cover is 'thicker' making the overall length of the assembled long block, just a little bit longer. I dont see why a flange couldnt be modified to fit a 3rz charger, but the alignment of the pullys could be the deciding factor on wether it is possible or not. @05Taco4x4 made a custom supercharger setup, he may have something to add here.

So upon further research it appears that the 3rz and 2trfe have the power steering pump and pulleys in the same location so one wouldn't have to lose power steering when fitting this supercharger to the 2trfe. However, I was wrong with the intake manifold to head mounting. While the gasket and bolt patterns look the same they are flipped 180 degrees. (And I have not yet verified the dimensions are actually the same, just looking at the gaskets online it appears that way)
Does anybody know if it is possible to unbolt the mounting flange from the supercharger, flip it on its head and re-attach?
Or would it require a substantial amount of fab work to modify the flange to fit on he 2trfe head?

We’ve recently talked about the flange on another thread.
I do believe it’s possible to make the 3RZ TRD SC work on the 2TR. Weld on a new flange, possibly have to redo the runners to get the correct placement on the serpentine belt. If all this work is necessary, would be hella cheaper to just weld up the entire thing with a roots charger of your choice.

It’s a casting, so not possible to just unbolt and flip.

Awesome. Would it be possible to buy just the head mounting flange from your guy??

Also, what are you doing for a gasket? I'm worried about boost leaks at the manifold. AFAIK there is no OEM gasket for the 2trfe
