Those aren't the Trail Team wheels plus they are overpriced. The Toyota dealer that I go to has those priced out at $175 a wheel for the gun metal/anthracite FJ TRD wheels. I am tempted to buy them.

The Trail Team wheels are matte black in finish and were a limited edition wheel. You supposedly could not purchase them without an FJ Vin and some other things. Way overpriced in my book for what you get. If you want the look just buy a silver set and get them powdercoated and paint the center cap.

My brother-in-law ended up getting imitations from the dealer. They are more than likely the silver ones, just powder coated matte black. They look exactly like the originals, but cost tons less. I asked the dealer about the real ones and they said that in the beginning of the TT run Toyota made an over abundance of the rims. They then released some of them to the dealers. The dealer I was at said they were buying them multiple sets at a time and selling them before the shipment arrived. Then Toyota stopped letting the dealerships have them unless it was specifically for a TT FJ with matching vin and all.

    Thanks.

When I do this, I plan on going the anthracite/charcoal grey route. My only problem is tire cost - too much for me to pay for right now. New rims, sell the old rims, not so bad.

i'm so jealous of you guys who scored the TRD Matte Rims from the FJ Cruiser Trail Editions...

every time I found a set someone wanted almost $3K for them...if that's the case I will get actual aftermarket rims that are 10x better then these...

Are these still available in silver or are all the colours overpriced and hard to find now?

So why do people pay so much for black ones when you can buy silver ones and get them painted for cheaper?

Hah, yep! And they sent out a rep to estimate how much you needed to get the job done. There was a purpose, though. That paint (which was used on the 1996 Mystic Cobra [note, not Mystichrome, as there's a difference]) was the color used in the US money.

    Back on topic...

Those wheels are nice. If I had the extra cash I'd pick a set up and just sit on them.
