Something to do with the rate? MS rate was tough during my time. Made mine after 12 years service. I knew someone made MSC after 8 years service. Guess it depends on who's the supo:D

Today a friend of the family was just promoted to Chief Petty Officer. He won't confirm it but his wife and family tell us he is a SEAL. Very low key guy.

Wow! this has been an interesting thread to read...... I'm almost embarassed to poll in as the 55th O-5. I Bought my first Toy (brand new '88 2wd p/u) as a 2d Lt. I traded it in on my brand new '93 4-Runner when my first son was born right after i made Capt (O-3). I just bought my brand new Tacoma when I started letting my first born son start driving the ole' trusty 4-Runner. and why would an old O-5 spend so much time on TW....?..... well, I like my wife's perspective on it...... she says she doesn't mind me spending money on the taco and looking at pictures of other dude's toyota's..... some of the alternatives are way worse!

I always wonder what the marine corps would be like if we had to take tests to be promoted.
