Finally commissioned as a 2lt after 4 years in the guard. Unfortunately, I might have to retire a 2lt because my unit is going to block my "automatic" promotion to 1lt until I go to the S6 course which is primarily for captains. Medical units...

my grandpa retired from the oregon army national guard an 0-7 he was in command of the largest infantry group at that time. really cool to sit and listen to his stories. thank you to all you service men and women on here. i almost made the choice but a better oppertunity beat the coast guard by like 2 weeks. my whole family is in the airforce both dad and uncle cmsgt. and my brother is a ssgt.

Navy O-2 stuck in the IRR. Seriously considering blue-to-green, but would be leaving a good job to do it. Not crazy about the good job though.

Anyone want to chime in on blue-to-green?

I did E-1 to E-4 then O-1 to O-2 and was medically retired later in life. Either O-1 or O-2 is OK if they medically retire you @ 100% ... :D

I finished my first active duty tour in 04', did the reserves thing till my obligation was over in 07', then re-enlisted just recently in the reserves. I missed job. I'll probably go active duty again in a couple years when I get vested at my current job.

10.5 years in, 9.5 left to go!

Anyone else notice the sharp decline in the poll at the E-6 mark?... Haha!

Good old Internet, on some forums just about everyone claims to have been a Commander-rank SEAL sniper who was contracted black-ops to the CIA.

Myself, I was a SP4 'doc' in an artillery unit.

Just hit the 15 year mark last Saturday! It's either 3/4's the way there or 1/2... See how it goes after 20. Goal is to retire with Two Stars!

E-4, Maritime Enforcement Specialist. *Should* make E-5 this year, but hoping the Coast Guard will give me the commission I have been so tenaciously seeking.

    Great thread!

12 years in the Air Force come this July. Was an E-6 (Tech Sergeant), then commissioned last year and now find myself at the bottom of the officer food chain as an O-1E. I think some days I had more rank as an E-6 than as a 2Lt. My LES says different though!
