Only CW2 and above are chiefs as in Chief Warrant Officer ie CW2, CW3 etc whereas it isn't a CW1 but a Warrant Officer 1 WO1. ... but most folks just call us all Chief even though it is technically Mister or Sir.

As lo g as that check clears I personally dgaf. :deadhorse:

THE HIGHEST PAID PEOPLE ON THE PENTAGON'S BUDGET: 3 FOOTBALL COACHES
The head coaches at Army, Navy, and Air Force make the most money in the Pentagon—and it's not all that surprising.

I was gonna say... in the mid 80's when I was in (Army), a WO1 was just Warrant, Mr., Sir, or out of hearting, a "Wobbly One", but never a Chief.

Is this our rank? E5 then medboarded honorably.

The worst part about being an NCO is being told you have power and at the same time being told you can't do shit to help or "correct" your Soldiers. Basically a glorified specialist who gets blamed for everything. Also, fuck all you shammer E4's.

Sounds like you have had some bad leadership.

I have. And I've had good leadership. It's just the facts of being a leader and even more so in today's military. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. A lot has changed in the 11 years I've been out, but that's a common theme in the way you have to deal with soldiers now days. You can't do very much outside of paperwork in the hopes that you can keep pushing shit uphill.

I’m still active and have to disagree. You just have to stay within reg. Joes going to Joe and report you but as long as you’re within reg you will be fine.

It is unfortunate when command doesn’t back you but in my career I’ve been back on most cases in the units I’ve been in.

The Army has changed alot in my career but you still have power as an NCO as long as you haven’t ruined the base you stand on.

Varies from unit to unit and some soldiers don't exactly make it easy. I never had any real issues, I was just using /s to point out that shit rolls down hill. Don't take it seriously.

You speak trut kemosabe. Mentorship is the key both ways in the chain of command. Although senior command will listen they do not hear what’s going on. Young below you that you mentor will remember what you taught them forever.
I retired in 2006 and I still talk to those exact same guys who went from E3 to E8. Cheers brother
