Alot of states beadlock wheels are not street legal. Not sure why. So manufacturers make fake ones cause it looks good. The new styles I seen now have groves on the inside of the wheels for beadlock.

I think they are pretty obvious. Bead lock rings are significantly more robust which is why I think 99% of them don’t even look like a real beadlock. Maybe I just haven’t seen a good one. And to be fair most people aren’t going to front an extra $500 or so for a set of fake ring conversions.

They do. It’s about $270 for fakes and $370 for real beadlocks depending on options and not including hardware. You’ll also need to swap valve stems and do some other stuff.

They cost more, are more maintenance which is why most people don’t use them.

This is a myth. Beadlocks are not illegal in any state. Utah is the only state that requires SAE approved wheels at vehicle registration but can still be ran legally after registration.

It's kind of the point of a truck forum. To talk about trucks and truck related parts.

I heard manufacturers don't put a dot number in the wheels that's what makes it illegal. Not that it matters. Majority of people dont tell the difference anyways and I'm sure cops don't even know anything about them.

Even the real TRD Pros are fake, because the whole idea is fake. Like, can someone please explain to me, just one goddam time, what a “Professional Tacoma” is?

    Pro owner:
“I require a pro Tacoma because I am a professional Tacoma driver who’s truck has been developed for desert racing, which is my job”

The whole idea of TRD Pro and TRD itself is stupid when your are discussing an underpowered, mostly plastic mini-truck with some extra decals and fox shocks. I love my Taco, but the TRD thing is dumb.

Shit, I didn't even know what a beadlock was until two months ago after 54 years on the planet. And in the automotive industry! (non-offroad) I like the look of the fakers because something about the bolts around the perimeter breaks up the monotony, but I dislike their propensity to attract and retain brake dust and other grime. Just too hard to keep clean. That's a major reason why I went with the 4Runner Trails. Large spokes and few nooks and crannies.

Yeah, I've only come across 2 people on here or Instagram that care enough about looks to pay for fake omf conversions.

I've seen some rings that looked real but weren't, some even had the yellow/goldish cadmium plated grade 8 bolts and couldn't tell they were fake from more than a couple feet away.

I just assume all beadlock looking wheels are fake, except the ones with yellow fasteners, those usually make me do a double take.

the bead lock ring is a nice trim piece for many wheel designs. Don't like it? Keep your OEM wheels or just get some steel pro comp jeep wheels. The idea of getting REAL bead locking race wheels to spread rubber across highways is what's funny, not the fake rings.

As far as I can tell the trend is dying. Our suppliers are cutting out the fake bead lock bolts.
