Yeah, if we keep in mind that most aftermarket tires are purchased for looks, not function, then it reads as a non-issue. But this thread asked for opinions (god bless TW), so mine is that it’s the equivalent of the stock Honda Civics with the tow rings sticking out of the front - dead weight and an empty signifier.

Never was a fan. There's one rim style that I have big respect for - Steelies. Cheap-ass, trailer grade steelies. Those always look tougher to me than any other wheel.

This was a total one off. My tractor got stuck in spring mud so I strapped it and yanked it about 25 ft and it left the tire frosted. I just liked the picture and for this thread it was the best close up I have of my fakelocks.

    Here’s my “mall crawler”:

I've been searching for wheels for literally a month and a half, and most are cheesy. Either the back set is too far off or they look like something from the transformer movies. I may go with a steelie as someone else posted above or a cheap Pro Comp if I can find a decent hub. I like real bead lock wheels, but since this is my daily driver, I don't need them. I also don't need a stage 5 King Shock rear replacement. But..I want it. The only thing I need though is a gear change which has to be first.

I actually like the fake beadlock look on some wheels I'm a function over form kinda guy so they're not for me. The bolts do nothing but add weight which takes away from the functionality by adding more rotating mass and unsprung weight.

Every damn wheel company is putting that fake bead lock design on new wheels. It's annoying. Having them of a few options is fine. But holy shit EVERY DAMN WHEEL these companies are making now have them

Just a bunch of old crap
If you've ever wheeled hard enough to bash your rims on rocks, you'll LOVE the fake beadlock ring (if it's removable) because you can replace just the rings without having to buy new rims. Big money saver. Who gives a sh!t what people think about you being a poser. That just means they don't wheel hard enough to need them.

I am not a fan of fake anything. That includes bead locks, hood scoops, and boobies. However, I think if done right, a bead lock wheel can still be pretty nice. Here are my SCS Ray 10s with custom powder coated bolts (they used to offer this option but dont anymore so I had mine coated). They blend in more with the lip and don't give the be dazzled appearance of a regular Ray 10s.

I like the look of some of them, not all. But if you can’t change out the outer ring when you trash them Offroad, what’s the point?
