+1 I'm the same. If something looks the part it should serve/function as such as well....kinda like the hood scoop on the sports - should have been a functional scoop.

They've been around for oh...I dunno...20 years or so.

It's the top selling style in every truck rim.

How exactly is this a debate?

our beadlock zephyr has been a massive seller. we’ve sold something like 3000 beadlocks in the last year. which is a lot considering it’s a damn beadlock.

It depends. I liked the ones on my last ride. The benefit of those were that the steel ring protected the aluminum rim, and I had the gouges to prove it. To each his own, but given the right wheel they look nice.

Beadlockas are illegal to run on the streets with rare exception. So that's why they really don't come up in searches. Kinda one of those "if you need them, you know who to call" kinda things.

    Hutchinson as well

that’s not entirely true. only in states that require inspections as none of the beadlocks with exception of one hutchinson have dot certification. kinda a gray area there really.

Well, don't get caught isn't really an official position on legality. But yeah, I'd love to run a set of the Hutchinson military split rim beadlocks.

State/Federal agencies dont write laws prohibiting usage or equipment only the modification of certain equipment. There arent any government mandated laws regarding wheels, only markings and dimensions.
J2530 is the SAE standard for wheel performance, and currently no wheels meet that standard. For legal reasons beadlocks are "off-road use only" because of not meeting that standard. The only reason they dont meet the standard is that they clamp outside the wheels bead seat. thats the only reason.

Manufacturers stating 'off-road use only" does not actually mean theyre not legal to use on streets, only state and federal laws determine that and currently there are none relating to performance of a wheel. Manufacturers use this as a disclaimer against misuse of a product and potentially if a series of bolts break and cause an accident of surface streets its a means to say, hey you were using these outside their intended use and therefore we are not liable.

States that have inspections can use the JS2530 standard as a bench mark for denying the wheels usage but that could be challenged in court since there are actually no laws against their use, and js2530 isnt actually a legally enforcable stance since there are no federal or state laws relating to wheels besides them requiring them to be "safe"

So while not technically illegal their use can in inspection states be limited since they use the SAE standard to determine if a wheel is "safe" but again there are no specific laws on the books in any states regarding their legality.

I just take the fake beadlocks off and fill the holes with shorter stainless set screws.

And Justin Bieber has sold well over 140,000,000 records. Why do people make fun of him and his fans?

Can you take the fake beadlocks off Method NVs? I just bought a set cheap but not a huge fan of the look. Thinking I'll just spray paint the bolts the same color.

Look at all the huge lifted trucks with 22 inch wheels and 38 inch plus tires and 5 inch exhaust that never go off road. More fake stuff. I don’t think the fake bead lock rims are anything other than looks.
